The FriYay vape pen is a 0.3g disposable vape pen from Good News. This is a Sativa product from an unknown strain. The cannabis oil used in this product is 82.39% THC butane extract. Cresco Labs markets its brand, Good News, as products to share. Their website says, “Good News product leads with the social occasions you love, turning moments with friends into times you’ll always remember.” So much for that.

Appearance 4/5
With the brand name and product name repeated all over in a bright two-tone color pallet, the FriYay Vape Pen looks very stylish and modern. It also helps differentiate visually between disposable vape pens and cartridges attached to batteries, which up until now, have looked pretty similar.

The only problem with the sticker wrapped all around the smooth pen is that I could never see how much I used, or how much is left. I know that not being aware of how much I’ve consumed, or how much I have left, makes me smoke more, and I think Cresco Labs knows that, too. This is the downside to all of the disposable vapes that come out of Cresco Labs, in my opinion.

Aroma 4/5
The FriYay vape pen has a mild odor that smells like generic fruit. It is hard to pick apart this aroma. There are hints of pineapple, cherry, papaya, watermelon, and even tomato. Really, it smells of sweetness and freshness. There is a hint of cannabis in the cloud of vapor, but the fruitiness covers up most of the aroma of the cannabis extract, making it one of the more discreet vape products. It smells mostly like vaping candy.

Taste 4/5
This product contains botanically-derived terpenes, which means it’s flavored with non-cannabis terpenes. This flavoring gives it a strange fruity flavor that I have only ever encountered in various gums. There is a sweet fruity flavor that overpowers any hint of cannabis. There are notes of watermelon, mango, pineapple, and papaya. While I normally enjoy the natural flavor of the cannabis shining through, I enjoyed how unnecessarily sweet and decadent this product is.

Effect 4/5
The FriYay vape pen gave me a boost of mental energy and a pleasant sense of physical numbness. I felt focused and slightly euphoric. Time felt irrelevant. This 82.39% THC vape didn’t provide the strongest high, but the effects I felt were intensely pleasant.

Honestly, I’m used to the Cresco Labs Liquid Live Resin that they sell in disposable pens and carts, which give a full, satisfying high. This had a more shallow high than the LLR products, but that said, it has very strong effects for a butane extract.

Product price: $39.63 for 0.3g vape pen

I’d recommend this product to someone who is looking for a sweet flavored disposable vape, since its flavor is superior to other flavored extracts. I also recommend this product to people who are looking for a disposable vape with pleasant sativa effects. As its name indicates, it’s a good product to energize the user through a social weekend.

I have long had conflicted feelings on fruity flavored vape pens. This is the first one that I have truly enjoyed. While this product is not for someone who wants to get seriously baked, it is a delight to consume. It’s a good product for summer, and it encourages me to try more Good News products.

Last Saturday, I went to the new Sunnyside location in River North. I placed my order from the live menu on the website, just like I have been doing at Lakeview for months. The only difference is that I had to switch my location in the menu at the top of the screen, on the left of the shopping bag and user icon.

I placed my order before they opened, and they immediately sent me a text saying my order was ready to be picked up between 9am and 9pm.

I got to the waiting area for the dispensary around 9:30. There was a line of three people to check-in. I showed the man at the counter my text, and gave him my phone number. I got a text saying to come back in five minutes. Then, I, along with three others, were sent over to the actual dispensary.

Where the two locations of Sunnyside Lakeview are right across the street from each other, the locations at Sunnyside River North are about a block and a half apart, and it’s pretty clear that neither of the buildings were meant to be a dispensary.

At the dispensary on Clark Street, I gave the security guard my ID, and was instructed to put my phone away while I was in the dispensary.

The budtender took my receipt and gave me my order. She was flustered. She said that they opened with a ton of orders, and they haven’t caught up all morning–which makes sense because I placed my order around 7:30 that morning. I’ve also noticed that, unlike Lakeview, they keep their ordering button active for most of the morning, rather than just for 10 minutes on the hour.

It’s really a great flavor and my first time vaping was smooth. I was high a good 6 to 8 hours and satisfied enough to turn down smoking actual weed. I highly recommend this for first timers. Once again I love the flavor!

Y’know, like oyster or periwinkle shells. Les fruits de mer. The buzz is good, energetic.
