Appearance 3/5
To me, the packaging of this product leaves a lot to be desired. IESO’s Jack the Ripper comes in a brown plastic tube with a cap that pops off instead of twists. All lab testing is on the back of the packaging. Overall, it gives off a cheap appearance to me, honestly. I do like how easy it is to squeeze and pop off the cap, though. The actual product inside, on the other hand, looks pretty good. Two perfectly formed nugs that are nicely trimmed. They’re a medium green, but I will say the trichome density leaves a little to be desired.

Aroma 5/5
I found the aroma of Jack the Ripper to be very pleasant and mellow – I wasn’t overpowered by the scent when I popped off the lid. The dominant aroma here is a nice lemony pine scent, due to Terpinolene and ß-Caryophyllene. I really liked the smell of this flower and hope it translates well to the flavor.

Taste 3/5
I’m kind of on the fence when it comes to the taste of Jack the Ripper. I got a little bit of a piney flavor, but kind of less than what I was expecting. I mostly got a grassy taste that I just didn’t like. It’s just so-so.

Effect 4/5
This product was just OK in terms of effect. Due to the lower percentage, I figured it would be a pretty mild. It took about 6 deep hits for me to feel a bit of a buzz. I felt a very slight elevation in mood; it perked me up slightly. I was able to focus on what I was doing throughout the day, without any weirdness like paranoia or anxiety. With a name like Jack the Ripper, I wanted this to have a little bit more of a memorable effect.

IESO’s Jack the Ripper is a middle of the road flower that gets the job done, but there’s not a lot to “write home about” so to speak. I felt a little bit of a buzz, but it took quite a few hits to get there. I would recommend this for new users especially since it’s a mellow high – not too much of a chance of negative side effects from this. This is a good flower for daytime use, but I don’t think using it at night would leave anyone wired or unable to sleep.

I am pleased with my experience with Windy City Cannabis and will certainly be heading back soon – the product stock looks like it changes regularly and with the great service at this location. Since it’s conveniently located near North and Clybourn it’s an easy trek from downtown and other parts of the city.

Something I like about this dispensary is that shoppers earn points on every visit to the store. There are only a few shops in the Chicago area that do this. I say yes to just about every rewards program, and even though the discount isn’t much, it definitely helps.
