“Wanna try one of my worms?!”
For anyone that’s over the age of 30, that random little phrase should ring a bell. That is, if you spent as much time in front of TV as I did growing up. This is, of course, a pull quote from one of my favorite all-time commercials. It was from a spot for Creepy Crawlers, which was, essentially, an easy-bake-oven for boys.

With a few packets of “goop,” kids could create their very own gummy worms (and other bugs) at home. Well, needless to say, I was instantly won over by this uniquely creepy ad, and it quickly made it to the top of my Christmas list that year. And, lucky for me, when that fateful December day arrived, I was elated to rip open a present to find that familiar black and neon box I had seen from the commercials.
Now, in most cases, especially with kids of this age (5-7 years old), the infatuation they have with a toy slowly starts to dissipate from the second they actually get their hands on it. It’s a fickle relationship that young boys have with their toys, but it’s something that every kid experiences. However, that said, there are certain toys that, every so often, strike a chord with their owner, and the love affair between the two curiously grows more and more over time.

And, as other toys are finding their way into the dusty bottom of the toy chest, these super special items are never stowed away in a closet. They are constantly “out and about,” and always ready to be played with. Creepy Crawlers was one of those special toys in my life. I couldn’t get enough of it, to be completely honest. I was obsessed.
The fact that I was able to sit in my room, completely unsupervised, and make my own creepy candy was a dream come true. In short, gummy worms quickly became my new favorite candy, and I was basically infatuated with the entire process. It was awesome.
Then, one night, when we were out at a nearby restaurant, it came time to order dessert. Typically, I ordered an ice cream of some sort, but there was one item on the menu that intrigued me to no end.
It was simply described as a “Dirt Cup.”

And, while the name was enough to entice me to order it, it was the picture of the item that ultimately sealed the deal. In short, it was a double-chocolate brownie stuffed into a tiny ramiken, with a handful of bright gummy worms flowing in and out of it. I was amazed. I had never seen something so cool before in my entire life.
While it probably goes without saying, I ordered that dessert, and my life was never the same. I still, to this day, can’t pass up a “Dirt Cup” dessert whenever I see it on a menu. It never fails to hit the spot.
In fact, I love this dessert so much, I’ve taken it upon myself to make my own version of it at home. But, instead of the typical brownie component, I’ve discovered a way to turn these delectable little morsels into worm-filled cookies. And, even more that, I’ve come up with a way to infuse each one with a hearty amount of THC.
Now, ask yourself, does anything get better than that?! I certainly don’t think so!

Which is why I’m here. I’m going to teach you all how to make Marijuana “Dirt Cup” Cookies of your own, and the best part is, it’s probably one of the easiest recipes you’ll ever take on.
But, before we get into the nitty-gritty of this recipe, we’ll need to make sure you have all the necessary items required to pull off this one-of-a-kind recipe.
Since we’ll be making two separate elements (the cookie, itself, and the infused ganache), let’s divvy up the ingredient list to make things a little easier to follow.
For the “Dirt” Cookies, you’ll need the following:
And, for the infused ganache, you’ll need:

Instructions

Alright, once you’ve got all of that in order, you can get started on this recipe for Marijuana “Dirt Cup” Cookies.

  • To kick things off, you’ll want to preheat your oven to a solid 350°.
  • As that warms up to our desired temperature, you can go ahead and line a baking sheet with some parchment paper, to avoid sticking.
  • Then, grab a medium-sized bowl for mixing. In it, toss in your cocoa powder, flour, brown and white sugar, salt, and baking soda. Be sure to combine all of those elements together to the best of your ability.
  • After you feel like you couldn’t mix those ingredients up any more, you can stir in your buttermilk, along with your vanilla and applesauce. Once those are fully incorporated, you can repeat that process with your chopped pecans.
  • When you’re happy with how everything is looking, simply scoop out portions of this batter, and place it onto the baking sheet that was previously lined with parchment paper. Try to get the scoops to be even in size to ensure a successful bake. I’d say aim for about 2 ounces in size and shape, per scoop.
  • Then, at this point, your oven should be ready to go. If it is, place your cookies inside, and let them bake for about 10 minutes or so.
  • Once they firm up, you’ll know they are ready to be taken out. When they hit that level, remove them from the oven, and place them onto the counter to cool down, as you get to work on your infused ganache.
  • To do that, you’ll want to grab a small bowl, and place all of your dark chocolate chips inside.
  • Then, you’ll want to pour your heavy cream into a small pot, which should be placed over a heat source set on “Medium-to-High” heat. Keep that there until it reaches a solid boil. Once it starts to boil, you will want to add that super hot cream to your chocolate chips, and allow both of those ingredients to set for roughly 5 or so minutes.
  • Once that time period has elapsed, you can mix in your cannabis-infused butter with the ganache, and stir those two elements together, until it reaches a super-smooth consistency. If you need the chocolate to melt a bit more, you can place it over a bowl of hot water to slowly loosen up the tough texture, but if not, simply proceed with the recipe.
  • After you’ve successfully stirred in the cannabis-infused butter, you’ll want the ganache to set again. When you notice that it has reached optimal “spreadability” you can then apply a healthy layer of it on top of each resting cookie.
  • Then, on top of that, sprinkle your crushed Oreo cookies, and strategically place your gummy worms onto the “dirt” tops of each cookie. Finally, you’ll want to top off the whole batch with more crumbled cookies, and even some additional ganache, should you happen to have any left over.
