Ah, vacations.

Even the word “vacation” puts my mind and body at ease.

I mean, who doesn’t love a nice, relaxing, peaceful vacation? I know I certainly do.

And, not to speak on behalf of the cannabis community, or anything, but I often look forward to those moments where I can lounge back in a new place, get high, and just take in my surroundings. That sort of endeavor is equal parts therapeutic and inspiring.

Creativity and conversation flow effortlessly in environments like that, but given the fact that it’s happening in a completely unique atmosphere makes it that much more enjoyable. And the best way to achieve that kind of desired “vibe” is by getting a touch stoned while on vay-cay.

How To Have The “Stoner Trip Of A Lifetime” In Hawaii

Honestly, if you were asked to close your eyes, and envision your ideal vacation smoke spot, what would it look like?

If you’re like me, the first thing my senses would feel is the warm embrace of sunlight, and the comforting, ever-changing embrace of sand beneath me. That’s right, people, I feel like the best place to smoke, while on vacation, is on an exotic beach somewhere. But I’m not talking about any random tourist trap. No, that sort of place is nothing but irksome and full of judging eyes.

I’m talking about a supremely desolate, sparsely populated seascape. One that offers up a cool, refreshing breeze just when you need one. There’s no street noise or construction sounds to harsh the mellow currently taking place. It’s just you, your weed, and mother nature. Nothing left to do at that point, except toke up and zone out to the sound of crashing waves.

How awesome does that sound?!

Ugh, if only a place like this existed, within traveling distance, that also allowed out-of-towners to smoke weed when they were there.

Why, that would be…paradise!

Well, my friends, that daydream-of-a-destination is more than real. In fact, it’s readily available to visit, as it’s one of our beloved fifty states! And, if you haven’t guessed by now, I am, of course, talking about Hawaii!

The fact that America is, somehow, able to claim this slice of heaven as “ours,” is unbelievable. I’ve been to this wonderful series of islands a handful of times in my life, and I will continue to visit its many wondrous locations for the rest of my life.

Anybody that goes there, even once, already starts to plan their next trip while they’re still there. Now, if that’s not the sign of an amazing place, I’m not sure what is.

This place has everything. Great food, amazing beaches, picturesque sights, award-winning restaurants, a killer nightlife, and now (drumroll, please)…marijuana for out-of-towners!

That’s right, my fellow medical patients! Hawaii has recently passed a piece of legislation that would, ultimately, allow out-of-state medical marijuana patients to purchase and partake in bud, during their stay in Hawaii. And, to be honest, the second I learned about this historic political move, I damn near shed a tear, as I hurriedly tried to book a flight to Maui.

The Department of Health in Hawaii plans to utilize an online registration system, complete with e-cards, as opposed to physical cards, for these new patients to use at licensed dispensaries, while in Hawaii. But, like with anything from the government, there are a few stipulations that everyone should know about.

For roughly $50, patients who don’t live in Hawaii, will be able to apply for an official registration up to 2 months (60 days) before visiting these beautiful islands, in search of some island-grown ganja. During this process, you should expect to submit an official, valid piece of identification, along with your medical marijuana approval papers and/or card.

Once approved by their committee, they will issue an e-registration card to you, thus allowing you to buy up to 4 ounces of cannabis in Hawaii, for every 2-week period, over the course of 60 days. Also, you will only be able to apply for one of these babies 2 times a year, so use them wisely. But, to be honest, if you’re rich enough to go to Hawaii even once a year, consider me jealous, and if you’re looking for a travel buddy to smoke with, let me know.

The Director of the Department of Health in Hawaii, Bruce Anderson, was reached for comment after this prestigious piece of legislation officially went into effect, and he was more than happy to explain their intentions with it.

Specifically, Anderson said, “The introduction of Hawaii’s electronic medical cannabis card is a major step in improving access to medical cannabis for qualified patients in hawaii and out-of-state patients in the 37 other jurisdictions where medical cannabis is allowed.”

Other officials that were close to this important change in marijuana law were also happy to share their two cents on the matter, as well.

Like Tami Whitney, for instance. She is a part of the Medical Cannabis Registry Program. She said, “Dispensaries will also help educate visitors on state laws and regulations that govern the use of medical cannabis in Hawaii, such as restrictions on public use and transport.”

Which, though it seems obvious nowadays, is necessary to repeat. You can’t just fire up wherever you want while in Hawaii. My aforementioned beach-inspired smoke session is a pure fantasy, but that doesn’t mean you can’t fire up somewhere discreetly, grab a towel, and catch some rays, while baked. That always works.

You can find a portal to all of the information, and registration applications, that you will need on the Department of Health’s official website. So, if you’re planning on traversing across that expansive Pacific Ocean, to visit our nation’s most prized possession, Hawaii, and want to do a little smoking while you’re there, be sure to do your due diligence, and fill out all of the proper paperwork beforehand.

Not only will this give you piece of mind while on vacation, as far as marijuana is concerned, but it will also open up a plethora of high-quality options, as you can now visit any dispensary on the islands.

Which is always a lot better than relying on some random dude in a parking lot, if you ask me. That is not only wildly illegal, it’s beyond dangerous. So, don’t be a dummy, do the right thing, and register yourself with the Department of Health, if you’re planning on smoking cannabis while in Hawaii.

It’s just the right thing to do.

Aloha, my fellow enthusiasts!
