Comfort can be found in a litany of different ways.

A warm blanket, a peaceful landscape, a soothing song, it could be anything. There really are limitless options when talking about what could bring serenity to a person’s mind, body, and soul. Personally, while comfort is, essentially, subjective and individual to every person’s specific needs, I believe that everyone can find some inner peace through a well-prepared, hearty, incredibly filling dish.

This Cannabis Cornbread Recipe Is Simply Delicious

There’s something undeniably satisfying about a meal that just, well, hits the spot.

Perhaps it’s a dish that you’ve been pining for since childhood, maybe it’s a familiar “go-to” meal option, or maybe it’s something you’ve never even tried before - who knows?! Because, again, everyone is different, and our senses react differently to various foods. What could be mouthwatering to some may be nauseating to others. It’s really a case by case basis.

But, even though this world is full of picky eaters and snobbish palettes, I truly think there is one dish, in particular, that’ll bring a smile to the face of anybody, regardless of their culinary likes and dislikes. That dish, ladies and gents, is none other than the always scrumptious side dish known as cornbread.

This down-home, super-southern treat has been a landmark on dinner tables for decades and decades. The indescribable nostalgia that comes along with every delicious bite of cornbread is unbeatable, in my personal opinion.

And, when you think about it, it is the epitome of simplistic. There are no bells, no whistles. The entire concoction is void of frills altogether. But it doesn’t need them. This bread has become an iconic side dish based on its supremely satisfying taste alone. And it deserves all of the accolades it has received.

However, even though I’ve been enjoying this amazing bread for years and years, I’ve never whipped up a batch of my very own. Probably because I was too timid and afraid about the chances of me mucking up the recipe somewhere along the way, thus resulting in a substandard cornbread. And, to be honest, I was terrified that I would sully the good name of cornbread, and I simply wasn’t ready to take that chance.

One day recently, however, I realized that enough was enough. There was no reason to keep running from this iconic bread recipe in fear. I needed to trust in my culinary abilities and find a worthwhile recipe to finally create some cornbread of my own. And, lucky for me, there are a lot of recipes online for me to choose from.

While these recipes were highly rated, and the comments attached to them were all singing their praises, I realized that each of these interpretations was missing one vital ingredient that would truly make it a one-of-a-kind cornbread.

That ingredient, party people, is cannabis.

Can you imagine biting into a scrumptious slice of cornbread, knowing that it’s going to get you super high, too? I mean, talk about comfort food, right?!

That’s precisely why I’m here. I’m going to give you a super simple recipe for Cannabis Cornbread that is sure to make you a hit at the next dinner party.

But, before I go in-depth about the ingredients and few steps needed to complete this recipe, we need to make sure you have some cannabis-infused butter. Most dispensaries have more than a few of these THC tubs on hand, so you can probably find some at your local cannabis club. But, if you’d like to know how to make some of your very own, allow me to give the nuts and bolts on how to do it.

On a large cookie sheet, place 7-10 grams of roughly ground-up cannabis flower. Make sure that cookie sheet is lined with parchment paper before doing so. Then place that cookie sheet into the oven at 245°F. Never exceed that temperature, as that would ruin the bud completely. Let that sucker sit in the oven for about 40 minutes. At that point, you can remove the cookie sheet from the oven and place it to the side for the moment.

Then you’ll want to place a large saucepan over a heat source set on a “medium” setting. In it, you’ll toss in two sticks of regular butter and one cup of water. While you wait for the butter to melt completely, grind up that decarboxylated bud of yours a bit more until each budlet is finely ground.

When the butter has reached its desired melted consistency, toss in your flower, and stir. Let those two ingredients mix and simmer with one another for a couple of hours. When that time period is complete, remove it from the heat source and pour the contents of the saucepan into a container for storage through a cheesecloth. The cheesecloth will sift out all of those unwanted floral components, and you’ll be left with a container full of newly activated butter.

Take that container and put it into the fridge. The cold confines of the refrigerator will help toughen it up. When it’s reached a nice “stick of butter” consistency, you can feel free to spread it (or use it) on whatever your little heart desires. In this case, we’ll be using it to make some awesome Cannabis Cornbread.

Here’s a quick list of ingredients needed for this recipe:

5 Teaspoons Baking Powder
3 Teaspoons Cannabis-Infused Butter
1 Tablespoon Regular Butter (Unsalted)
1 Teaspoons Regular Butter (Unsalted)
1 Cup Milk
1 Egg (Room Temperature)
¾ Cup Fine-Ground Cornmeal
¾ Cup All-Purpose Flour
¾ Teaspoon Salt
⅓ Cup Sugar

Instructions

To get things started, you’ll want to preheat your oven to 400°F. While that baby is getting warmed up, grease up a cast-iron skillet with some cooking spray. If you happen to have any cannabis-infused cooking oil, you can use that here to add a little more potency to your dish. Whichever oil you choose, it will ensure that the end result doesn’t stick to the skillet.
Then, you’ll want to melt your cannabis-infused butter and regular butter together in a small bowl. I find that the microwave is the best appliance to use for this step. But you could easily achieve this same goal in a saucepan placed over medium heat. Whichever route you choose, when it has melted, remove it from the heat source and allow it to cool a little bit.
At this point, you’ll want to grab a substantially-sized bowl. In it, you’ll whisk together the cornmeal, salt, baking powder, sugar, and flour. After that, you’ll want to get your hands on a measuring cup.
In that measuring cup, you’ll want to beat your egg into your milk, preferably with a fork. Keep that up until everything is expertly combined with one another. When you’ve reached that perfect level of blending, toss in your melted butter. Following that, you can pour in those dry ingredients, as well.
This is where you’ll mix and mix and mix until every ingredient has intertwined with its flavorful counterparts. As soon as you feel you can’t mix them together anymore, pour it into your greased skillet. Be sure to spread out the mixture, so it’s smooth on top and evenly dispersed throughout the skillet.
The only thing left to do is toss that skillet into your preheated oven for about 20 minutes.

Notes

You’ll know it’s ready to take out when the colors transform into a beautiful golden hue, and there’s a bit of a crust forming on the edges. At that point, you can take it out of the oven and place it on the counter to cool for a bit. After a few minutes of cooling, you can slice up this sucker, and impress your friends with your cannabis-infused culinary skills.
