Heat the cannabis-infused olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Sauté until the vegetables are soft and the onion is translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste until well combined.
If using, pour in the red wine and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes to allow the alcohol to evaporate and the flavors to meld.
Add the vegetable or chicken broth, dried basil, dried oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper.
Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and let it cook for 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning with more salt, pepper, or sugar if needed.
Remove the sauce from heat. Garnish with fresh basil and grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
