Equipment

- Wooden spoon or spatula
- Chef's knife
- Cutting board
- Measuring cups and spoons
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons cannabis-infused olive oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large carrot, finely chopped
- 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
- 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
- 1/2 cup red wine (optional)
- 1 cup vegetable or chicken broth
- 2 teaspoons dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat the cannabis-infused olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Sauté until the vegetables are soft and the onion is translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste until well combined.
- If using, pour in the red wine and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes to allow the alcohol to evaporate and the flavors to meld.
- Add the vegetable or chicken broth, dried basil, dried oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and let it cook for 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning with more salt, pepper, or sugar if needed.
- Remove the sauce from heat. Garnish with fresh basil and grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
- Serve over your favorite pasta and enjoy!
Notes
- Adjust the amount of cannabis-infused olive oil according to your desired potency and tolerance.
- Store any leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze for longer storage.
- This sauce can be used for a variety of dishes such as lasagna, stuffed peppers, or as a dipping sauce for breadsticks.
