I think it’s fascinating how much bigger things feel when you’re younger. And I’m not just talking about the actual size of things. Those elements, of course, seem larger than life because, at our super small stature, they essentially are. I’m talking about moments and events, to be specific. What may seem like the biggest deal at the time is, in all reality, pretty forgettable in the grand scheme of things.
But, given that we lack the adequate life experience to fully grasp such a concept, we, as children, continued to increase and enhance the severity of situations, good or bad. It’s just how our tiny brains were wired, I suppose.

One such over-exaggerated endeavor that I remember vividly from my childhood was the necessary “mile run” that every student had to complete during P.E.
Now, keep in mind, this was in middle school. We are running around all the time anyway, so the fact that we just had to do more of it, wasn’t that big of deal. But, the fact that they placed a marker on it, like they did, just made it seem longer than it actually is.
The entire physical challenge seemed far too daunting to be taken lightly. So, whenever that fateful day came, you were equal parts nervous and unprepared. Yes, the majority of our free time was spent running around for one reason or another, but the lack of pacing and stretching required, usually made the entire ordeal a sweaty, ache-inducing mess.
But there was one cool element to having to run the mile as a class, and it had everything to do with growing up in the beautiful Bay Area.
See, my middle school campus was a stone’s throw away from the good ol’ Bay, herself. Along the edge of the water, was a man-made levy, complete with a paved road for walkers, joggers, and bikers, alike. It was a very popular pedestrian thoroughfare in town, and was known, far and wide, for the litany of picturesque views it could provide.

And, lucky for us, since it was used in a number of charity runs, there were already conveniently marked mile points. Which meant that we got to run along the Bay for our in-class mile. Which, given all the other undesirable circumstances surrounding the run, I have to say, we all collectively enjoyed this aspect of it.
Since we had to finish our run at our school, we were given a route to hit a halfway point, get a stamp from a peer (proving we made it that far), and subsequently, turn around and head back in the same direction. When we arrived back at the school, our teacher would be waiting there, stopwatch in hand, yelling out times as each student’s exhausted sneaker crossed the chalk finish line.
If you paid close enough attention, you’ll realize that I said “peer” and not “teacher” waiting for us at the halfway point. So, as you can already assume, if you were cool with that peer, they’d “look the other way” should you choose to go off the beaten path.
Well, it just so happens that there was a convenient store located across the street from that very same halfway marker.
Long story short, one day, when one of my buddies was too hurt to run, he was chosen as the halfway marker. So, during that run, instead of heading up to the halfpoint immediately, I stayed on the road, and high-tailed it to that convenient store. It was a speedier route than the levy, or at least, that’s how it felt.
I got into the store, bought my favorite candy, threw it in my pocket, fled back up to the halfway point on the levy across the street, got the necessary mark from my buddy, and was able to finish the mile completely undetected.
Needless to say, during my next class, when I was enjoying my tasty, sneakily-acquired treat, it was, quite possibly, the best candy experience I had ever had up to that point in my life. Not sure if it was the candy, itself, or perhaps the mischief involved in its purchase, but, for some reason, every bite just tasted way better than usual.

And that candy, ladies and gentlemen, was everybody’s favorite disc-shaped dish of chocolate and peanut butter. That’s right, I’m talking about Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.
But, I’m not here to teach you how to make just any ol’ Peanut Butter Cups. No, that would be far too boring. I’m here to teach you how to make some Homemade Cannabis Peanut Butter Cups!

Instructions

  • First off, toss your peanut butter and cannabis-infused butter into a bowl that’s microwave safe. Toss that bad boy in your microwave for 2-3 minutes, until they melt together. When you remove it from the microwave, stir up the contents as best you can.
  • After that, you can dump in your powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Mix all of those ingredients up as adequately as possible. When you feel like you couldn’t possibly combine all of those elements together any more than you already have, throw that bowl into the refrigerator for a little over a half hour.
  • Next, grab a muffin tin and some liners. Even though you are lining each tin cup with some wax paper-like wrappers, give the whole thing an “insurance spritz” of non-stick cooking spray, to ensure that the final product is able to be removed easily.
  • Now, you’ll want to take your melting chocolate, melt it, then strategically place a small amount of it on the bottom of each cup. Be sure to cover the bottom strategically, as these will be the foundation of our culinary creations. After each entry has its own dollop of melted chocolate, you can place the whole tin in the freezer, and leave it in there for a little over 10 minutes.
  • For the next step, remove that peanut mixture from the fridge and, with your hands, start rolling tiny balls of the blend. Keep that going until you’ve got a series of peanut butter spheres that could easily fit into the center of your palm. Remember, these are going in the middle of your cups, so don’t go crazy with their sizes.
  • When those are good to go, remove that prepared muffin tin from the freezer, and start to place these balls of infused peanut butter into each one. As you place them, press down on the balls to give them more of a “rectangular spread” that you see in typical Peanut Butter Cups.
  • After you’ve done that, top it off with some more melting chocolate. Once you have all of those cups ready to go, throw the whole thing back into the cold confines of the freezer. Don’t even think about touching these things for 30 minutes. But, at that point, simply remove them from the freezer, pop them out of the tin, take off their wrappers, and boom, that’s it!
