Mandarin Jack CO2 Cart

Mandarin Jack is a cross between the famous Sativa strain, Jack Herer, and the Indica dominant hybrid, Mandarin Sunset. This 0.5g cart was produced by Rythm, a branch of GTI, and the total THC percentage is 81.53%.

This cart uses CO2 extract, which is produced by filtering out cannabinoids with supercritical CO2, rather than butane or propane. This is done in a similar process through which coffee is decaffeinated. CO2 cannabis extract is thought to be healthier for the user, better for the environment, and safer to produce than other cannabis extracts.

The cart is about two inches tall. The top portion is a black, tapered mouthpiece. Below that is a ¾” chamber that is filled ¾ of the way to the top. There is a peach-colored Rythm logo at the base of the cart just above the threads. 

The Mandarin Jack cannabis extract was an orangey copper. I purchased two Rythm carts, and the color of the Mandarin Jack extract was significantly darker than the other. The cannabis extract was translucent and reflected a lot of light. 

Aroma 5/5
While the aroma of most CO2 cannabis extracts is minimal, this cart had an especially light aroma. Each hit left a mild scent that was mostly leafy and vegetative. The aroma reminded me of new leaves that are still on trees. This was mixed with a hint of lemon, along with a slight chemical smell. This product does not leave a strong cannabis aroma, and the odor dissipates quickly. 

Taste 5/5
The flavor of the Mandarin Jack cart reminded me of its parent, Jack Herer. It has the same distinctive crisp, oakey, full-bodied flavor. While the other CO2 carts I’ve tried are relatively flavorless, I was shocked by how much the taste resembled that of the actual bud. While this did not have anywhere near as much flavor as, say, a liquid live resin cart, the light flavor was remarkably pleasant. After a few consecutive hits, however, I wasn’t able to taste anything at all. 

Effect 5/5
This product filled me with giddy energy and relaxation. I felt excited, but my body felt mellow. The sense of physical relaxation I felt with this strain was soft and light. While I felt mentally stimulated, I noticed that my brain was feeling soft and slow in a similar way to my body.

After just two or three hits of this, I started feeling high. If I hit this product mindlessly, however, I started to feel jumpy and anxious, so for me, this was best in small doses.

I recommend this product to people who enjoy vaping but have concerns about its health. While petroleum-based solvents have not been labeled by the FDA, CO2 extraction has been labeled safe by the FDA. 

I also recommend this (and other Rythm carts) to those who are looking to minimize the smell of their vaping. These carts have an aroma that is about as minimal as it gets.

The last Rythm cart I purchased had a defect, and I vowed to stay away from these products. However, I enjoy the vapor and the selection of strains, and I decided to give them another chance, and I am very happy that I did. Not only were both the carts I purchased exceptional, but Rythm had changed the packaging of their product, possibly preventing the defect I experienced in my last cart.

This was, by far, my quickest and easiest trip to Sunnyside. They have designed a thoroughly efficient system. I was able to order online at 4:06, and rather than sending me two messages — an order confirmation text and an order pick-up text –, they sent me a single text saying: Your order has been submitted and is ready for pick up, please check-in at 3801 N Clark Street. 

I went to check in at the customer center, where a security guard at the door checked my ID and text confirmation. Then, I gave my confirmation number to one of two employees working at the check-in desk. He printed out a “ticket” and handed it to me, instructing me to talk to the employee by the back door.

I walked over to the fulfillment center and showed a different guard my ticket and my ID. Then, I walked right into the waiting room, and straight into the dispensary. 

The budtender who assisted me was very pleasant, and he repeatedly called me “friend.” He pulled my order from a plastic tray in the back, and went over each item with me. Then, he had another employee check the order. He told me that my order qualified for a discount for pride, as well as a free gift, and also informed me how far I was from $5 rewards. While I was able to pay with my debit card (for a $3 ATM fee, of course), they continued to round up (or down) to the nearest 10, giving the customer back the change in cash.
