During this trip, I picked up Sativa Momentum Capsules by Progressive Treatment Solutions (PTS). These capsules each contain 10mg THC of an “energizing sativa strain” per the description on PTS’ website. There are 10 capsules in the container, for a total of 100mg THC. Each capsule also contains 30mg potassium bicarbonate, 20mg magnesium citrate, 8mg sodium citrate, 5mg zinc citrate, and vitamins B3 (5mg), B6 (2mg), B12 (1mg).

Appearance 4/5
There are a wide variety of PTS capsules available at my dispensary, and each come in the same container, with a different label and color scheme to denote the product. The Momentum pack features a vivid reddish orange label. On the back, the ingredients are clearly printed.

After tearing off the plastic seal and taking a look inside, I poured out the contents, and checked out the capsules. Each of the capsules were made of a clear material and were filled about halfway with a slightly yellow oil. This is the blend of coconut oil and cannabis oil. I assume the coconut oil is there to serve as a fatty vessel to help the THC better enter your bloodstream.

Aroma 5/5
The individual capsules didn’t smell too strong on their own, but when I took a whiff of the inside of the container, I was hit with a really potent, yet pleasant weed smell. It was slightly skunky and earthy, but also with a faint hint of citrus. I liked it a lot.

Taste 4/5
Taste isn’t really applicable in this case, as you just swallow the capsules like you would any other pill. They went down easy and didn’t really leave any residual flavor.

Effect 4/5
I took my first capsule and waited for the effects to kick in. After about an hour, I felt largely the same as I had before taking anything. After an hour and a half, I could start to feel a light high kicking in, but it really wasn’t anything like I had expected. I was calm, clear-headed, and slightly more focused than normal, but beyond that, there wasn’t much of a typical high feeling.

I tried a single pill again a few more times and had pretty much the same experience. I’ll admit it was disappointing, but when I read the description from PTS, things started to make more sense. I realized that these capsules were doing exactly what they were meant to do: produce an alert, focused high. This effect is also achieved (according to the site) with the help of potassium bicarbonate, magnesium citrate, sodium citrate, zinc citrate, and vitamins B3, B6, B12, which are all included in each capsule.

Product price: $29

I think these PTS Momentum capsules are a good bet for those looking to be productive and clear-headed while high. On a single dose, you should still be able to carry on with your day – they’re really more of a microdose. I think these capsules are also a great medical option, as they may offer relief from aches and pains without greatly impairing your cognitive abilities.

Once I understood what the Momentum capsules were trying to accomplish, I could appreciate them much more. They’re not meant for getting super stoned – they’re more like a regular supplement you’d take for your health, or a neurotropic you’d take for performance, with all their added vitamins and compounds.

I purchased these Momentum capsules at Nature’s Care, my neighborhood dispensary. Serving the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, Nature’s Care is a medical and recreational cannabis dispensary located in Rolling Meadows. It’s easy to get to via I-90 or Route 53, and it can be easily spotted in its industrial area thanks to its big sign out front.

Nature’s Care makes use of the online sales platform Jane, which allows users to shop from home and select items to be picked up later. If you are a recreational user, note that the dispensary’s parking lot is intended for use by medical patients only. Recreational customers can find parking at one of the neighboring businesses or on side streets.

Outside the dispensary, there are separate lines for recreational and medical customers. The line for recreational users typically wraps at least partially around the building, while medical users can often walk right in. At busier times, I have seen a short line for medical patients, however. Nature’s Care has staff outside directing customers in and out, and they do a great job of enforcing social distance in a friendly way.

Once it’s your turn, head inside the lobby, where you’ll likely be asked to wash or sanitize your hands before entering the sales floor – another facet of Nature’s Care’s commitment to keeping their store safe and clean. The checkout lines typically go pretty fast, so your clerk will have you rung up and out the door with your goods in not much time at all!
