On this trip, I purchased the dark chocolate and orange bar by Nature’s Grace and Wellness. This bar contains 100mg total of THC, and the cannabis oil they use is of a sativa variety, though no specific strain name is given. The bar is split into 5 even pieces, each containing approximately 20mg of THC.

Appearance 4/5
The dark chocolate orange bar features a rich dark brown color and is separated into five breakable pieces. The whole bar is wrapped in gold-colored foil and then is closed in a child-proof pouch, which must be pinched on both ends to open. The packaging graphics are pretty sparse, but the ingredients and info on the back are detailed and easy to read. I thought the packaging was not the most inspiring I’ve seen, but it did do the favor of making this appear like a professionally made product, which I find important.

Aroma 4/5
After unwrapping the bar, I took a sniff and was happy to notice that it had the typical dark chocolate earthiness and mild bitterness. I also detected a bit of orange flavor, but it was totally balanced with the chocolate and not overpowering at all. There was little to no cannabis smell that I could detect.

Taste 4/5
I’ve long been a major fan of the chocolate and orange combination, especially when it’s dark chocolate, so I was excited to try this bar! I’m happy to report that it did not disappoint. I don’t know what cacao percentage they used, but I felt like it perfectly hit that point of being not-to-sweet, but not too bitter. The orange flavor tasted a little artificial, but I don’t mind that. It was noticeable and blended well. The cannabis flavors didn’t really come through until the bar had melted a bit in my mouth, but I loved the way the herbal notes meshed with everything else. Definitely check out this bar if you’re a chocolate and orange believer.

Effect 4/5
My first experience with the dark chocolate orange bar had me taking a full 20mg piece. I was feeling a bit sore from a lupus flare-up that had started a couple days ago, and my wife and I were planning on going out that night after work to see a show, so needless to say, I was looking for some relief.

I’d say that this bar delivered on that front and then some. My pain was noticeably more tolerable about 40 minutes after eating a piece. I was able to walk around the city for much longer than I normally would be and stood during an entire concert without any more difficult than I would have when healthy.

Head-wise, I also really appreciated the effect. I had a long-lasting feeling of calm and lack of anxiety throughout the night. During the show, I really got into the music, and the high went so far that I could close my eyes and my mind sort of played a music video for me. It was rad.

Product price: $20

I thoroughly recommend the dark chocolate and orange bars to anyone looking for an active sativa high and or relief from daily aches and inflammation. The dosing segments might be a bit much for first-timers, but I think you shouldn’t have much trouble cutting a 20mg piece pretty cleanly in half and then even one more time in fourths. The taste is great, and the high is long-lasting and pleasant. What more could you ask for?

One important note is that if you’re dairy-free, vegan, or have a severe nut allergy, you probably want to stay away. But other than that, this dark chocolate bar gets a hearty recommendation from me.

Nature’s Grace and Wellness have concocted a winning edible with their dark chocolate bar. It really hit the mark in all categories for me. If they’re available in your area, I’d definitely recommend checking out some of NGW’s other edibles as well!

I purchased this product at Nature’s Care — a medical marijuana dispensary located in Rolling Meadows, a northwest suburb of Chicago. Nature’s Care is a clean, bright facility with quick and professional service. There’s a great herbal smell as soon as you walk in the front door, and a comfortable waiting room (which I’ve never actually had to wait in) with lots of cannabis magazines and literature, plus fresh coffee.

Every time I walk into the bright, clean, and well-furnished lobby, I can’t help but smile. There’s usually great music playing over the speakers, be it a classic rock gem, reggae, or something more modern. As usual, the team behind the counter was quick to call me over to pick up my already placed order and were happy to answer any questions about the product.

Nature’s Care has two lines for customers — one for patients who have preorders filed, and one for those who do not yet know what they want. I always see staff in that line patiently explaining products to patients who may have never used cannabis before, or who just want to discuss what they are getting. It’s pretty heartwarming to see a 20-something who I assume is an experienced smoker, informing an elderly woman on the benefits of a given strain. Though I almost always have a preorder in, I’ve asked questions to the staff many times, and they’re always happy to help and offer friendly service in general.
