White Widow pre-roll

White Widow, a strain developed in the 1990’s, is an evenly balanced hybrid that comes from a South American Sativa strain and a South Indian indica. While it has led to many other strains, such as White Russian and Blue Widow, the legacy of the original White Widow overshadows its descendents.

This 0.5g pre-roll was grown by Ascend, and has a total cannabinoid percentage of 15.51%.

This pre-roll was rolled in white, waxy paper and uses a white cardstock filter without any printing on it. Like many of the pre-rolls I’ve been seeing lately, the tip was pushed into the pre-roll, rather than having it twisted up. It was packaged in a standard black tube. 

The pre-roll has a medium-coarse grind. While there is some kief and powder, the shake is mostly larger pieces. The color varies from an army green to a yellowy tan. There were a few brown hairs in the cannabis, as well. 

Aroma 5/5
White Widow has a sour, lemony aroma. While it hints at the fermented sourness of its parent, the sweetness in the aroma counteracts the sourness, creating an extremely pleasant smell. While there were notes of sweetness in the flavor, the aroma was pretty dry. There were notes of dried herbs, such as thyme and oregano. The aroma of the pre-roll was minimal when it was in the standard plastic tube. Unwrapped, the aroma of this half gram wasn’t particularly potent, but it was very enjoyable. 

Taste 4/5
The taste of White Widow reminded me of lemon custard. It was hearty, creamy, sweet–but not too sweet. The citrus notes were noticeable, but not overpowering. There were orange and grapefruit notes, in addition to the lemon. There was also a hint of mint in the taste, and some mild earthy notes, too. Overall, the taste was smooth and extremely pleasant. There wasn’t anything too distinct about it, but I enjoyed it very much. 

Effect 5/5
The effects of White Widow far exceeded my expectations. I felt euphoric and relaxed, like my troubles melted away. I felt mental relaxation and mental energy simultaneously. While I didn’t feel physically relaxed, I had a strong sense of softness and energy in the body. 

This was a truly balanced hybrid that provided the best effects of its Indica and Sativa heritage. It isn’t a strain that has specific effects bred out to create particular feelings.

I recommend this strain to people who are looking to buy a small amount of high quality cannabis. Since this is so small, and has a moderate THC percentage of 15.51%, it can easily be smoked alone, or with others, in one sitting. It can be deconstructed, or smoked as it is rolled.

This pre-roll was remarkably good. That said, per gram (or, in this case, half gram), it’s just about the most expensive thing one can buy in the dispensary. While this is an evenly balanced hybrid with great flavor and great effects, it is not twice as good as the other pre-rolls on the menu, which the price might suggest.

I went to pick this up from Sunnyside Lakeview on a weekday afternoon. While I usually go to the dispensary right when it opens, I am always surprised by how quickly the service is in the afternoon. I believe this is partially because people want to make sure none of the items they want sell out. I also think there are fewer medical patients in the morning. This trip was no exception. Even though there were plenty of customers, the line moved quickly. 

Like always, I placed my order online. I received a confirmation text that my order was received, and waited for the text saying it was ready to be picked up. After half an hour of waiting, I re-read the text and noticed that my order was ready to be picked up immediately. 

I headed over to the dispensary and checked in at the front desk. The employee printed out a ticket and told me to talk to the woman in the back of the room. She instructed me to wait outside at the dispensary. 

I moved quickly from the waiting room to the dispensary itself, where I went to pick up my order. All of the registers were staffed, and the lines were moving quickly. The budtender went over each item in my order with me, confirming that the two Rythm carts I purchased were eligible for the Pride special, letting me know he was including the promotional vape battery. On my way out, the budtender told me to “enjoy my goodies”. This was the most efficient trip to Sunnyside Lakeview I’ve seen yet.
