If I’m being honest with myself, the majority of my childhood memories have something to do with candies or desserts of some kind. No, I wasn’t exactly a “husky” boy growing up, but man, did I love my sweets.
Any chance I could, I’d stuff my face with these sugar-laden delights, and I couldn’t have been happier about it. But, I’m sure I’m not the only child who was daydreaming about treats on a consistent basis.
However, as time goes on, we get older, and those once lightening-fast metabolisms hit the brakes with a sudden skid, and the rules of sweet consumption completely change. Before, you were able to down full 2-liters of orange soda and a bag of Skittles without any sign of wear, tear, or fatigue.
Also, as a child, the last thing on my mind was weight gain. But now, if I even look at a candy commercial for too long I gain a few pounds. It’s all incredibly frustrating. I used to fill my free time with handfuls of sweets, but now my body can’t even be around them without ballooning up. Talk about depressing.
But, all is not lost. In those desperate times when I find myself yearning for the metabolic freedom to enjoy a hearty dessert, I can just wander through the depths of my culinary memory, and conjure up a time from my past wherein a sweet treat played a major role.
The one I tend to think about most happened when I went on a vacation with my family to the East Coast as a child.
We don’t have family out there or anything, my Dad was just hellbent on showing his kids as much of this country as he could. So, we landed in Washington, DC, and proceeded to drive up and down the Eastern Seaboard, stopping in various places along the way. But it was our day spent in Virginia that will always hold a special place in my sugar-filled heart.
There, we visited a colonial town. It was one of those places where all the employees dress in era-specific clothing, and work jobs of the time, like a blacksmith and whatnot.

They were all method acting, and youngsters were encouraged to ask them about their ancient lifestyles, and how they went about things back then. To which, these kind employees would answer them, fully in character, adding a bit of a charming confusion whenever they saw a camera, as that technology hadn’t been invented yet.
Was it cheesy? Oh, absolutely. But it wasn’t the “cheese” that I remember – it was the caramel.
Right in the middle of this facsimile townsquare sat a small bakery and candy shop. Or, should I say “shoppe.”
The fragrant clouds flowing forth from this miniscule establishment were too enticing for my little senses to ignore. In minutes, we found our way inside, and I was eye-to-eye with their wide array of freshly made treats. In the front row, stood a line a mouthwatering caramels.
Noticing that I was salivating like a thirsty hound over these cubes of confectionary greatness, the kind “candy wench” offered me a small sample. I took the candy, sheepishly thanked her for her kindness, and slowly popped that sucker in my mouth – and the rest is history.
Delicious, delicious history.
I became a lifelong caramel fan right then and there. I begged my Dad to grab me a bag of those heavenly sweets, and it ended up being the highlight of the entire trip, as far as candies were concerned.
I just love caramels. I truly believe they are near perfect in their construction and flavor. However, I think I know what they need in order to make them absolutely legendary. And that special ingredient, ladies and gentlemen, is none other than marijuana.
That’s right, party people. We are about to make some truly phenomenal Homemade THC-Infused Caramels that are guaranteed to impress your friends (and your taste buds).

Instructions

  • To kick things off, you’ll want to throw in a little over a cup’s worth of that cannabis-infused butter in a pot.
  • Make sure it is over a heat source set on “Medium-to-Low.” Any higher, and the butter will burn. Right now, we just want it to melt thoroughly.
  • When it hits that desired melted consistency, you can toss a pinch (or two) of salt in there. Also, this is when you should add in your brown sugar, as well.
  • Stir up those ingredients gently, making sure each and every component is mixing and mingling with one another as much as they can. When you feel like these ingredients couldn’t be more mixed together, you can then add in your milk and corn syrup.
  • But, just because you’re adding ingredients, doesn’t mean you should stop stirring – so keep it up.
  • Now, you’ll want to let those cook together in the pot for about 15 minutes.
  • You will know everything is going well, when you start to see this once liquid-like mixture turn into more of a “goop.”
  • If you are content with how the consistency of the contents are looking, you can then toss in your desired amount of vanilla extract.
  • Stir that up a touch, and let it sit for another few minutes. When that time period has elapsed, you can pour your newly-infused caramel mixture into a waiting pan.
  • Once you’ve carefully completed that step, the only thing you need to do now is employ a little patience, as the caramel needs to cool down a touch. When it feels roughly around room temperature, you can start to cut it up into individual squares, and start handing them out to your bud-loving buddies.
  • And that’s it, people. That’s how you make Homemade THC-Infused Caramels.
