If you’re anything like me, you are always looking for the best movies to watch (while high) on 4/20 every single year.
Personally, I find that kicking back, super stoned, with a good flick, is the best way to spend an evening or afternoon. Hell, you could even fire up a joint, and press play on a feature film with your “wake and bake” session first thing in the morning on this glorious April day, if you’re looking to get things started nice and early. There really is no wrong time to get high and watch a movie, especially on this, the holiest of stoner holidays.
Have The Best 4/20 Ever With These Amazing Movies
However, that said, we live in a time where entertainment is everywhere. There’s content to be enjoyed no matter where you turn. This influx of shows and movies has led many people to become overwhelmed by this bountiful wealth of entertainment options. That, in turn, makes the once-enjoyable task of picking out a movie to watch while stoned more of a gamble. People don’t want to waste their precious high watching a movie that does nothing but bum them out, or leave them hanging. That sort of occurrence is always a let-down.
Which is why it’s abundantly important to know which ones are the best movies to watch (while high) on 4/20, without any sort of risk coming into play whatsoever. And, lucky for you, we’ve gone ahead and whittled down the massive list of stoner-friendly films for you, thus saving you the trouble of endlessly scrolling through your streaming services looking for that “perfect” movie.
What it all comes down to is “mood,” and as we all know, different strains can lead to different moods. It’s all about knowing which one you are experiencing with your current stash, as you cruise through your list of cinematic options. The key is to pair your viewing experience perfectly with your high. That way, you can truly lose yourself in the feature, which in turn, makes the high that more enjoyable.

So, without any further ado, here is a collection of the best movies to watch (while high) on 4/20, that are guaranteed to satisfy any and all highs that you may be experiencing on this wonderful April holiday.
Inception
If you’re like me, the intricacies of this film probably went flying over your head during your first viewing. Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Even non-stoned moviegoers were so transfixed by the striking visuals and amazingly detailed plot lines of this movie, that they missed a litany of clues that can only be picked up on during multiple viewings. But this movie is so sharp and visually-pleasing, that partaking in it over and over again hardly seems like a chore, it’s a treat. That way, you can sit back, stoned out of your mind, and look for all the hidden clues and foreshadowing hints that Christopher Nolan was able to expertly place through this one-of-a-kind film.

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
When you want a comedy, while high, you want it to be packed with jokes. So packed, in fact, that you don’t even want to have to pay attention to the plot in order to get them. Which, thankfully, can be said about most Will Ferrell movies, and this one, in my opinion, is the best of the bunch. The riff-runs that this amazing cast goes on throughout the course of this supremely silly, over-the-top comedy are incredible and beyond quotable. You’ll rekindle a love affair with this legendary comedy after just one scene, and the rest will be a barrel of laughs. Or, in this case, a Ferrell of laughs.

Isle of Dogs
I must say, I may want to recommend this one more than most, as it is equal parts impressive, eye-catching, and touching. This Wes Anderson stop-motion animated tale about a unique island of dogs off the coast of Asia is phenomenal. It’ll make you laugh, cry, think, but most importantly, it will enhance your high in all the creatively pleasing ways imaginable. This super stylized motion picture will motivate you to create something of your own once the credits roll, but before that, you’ll be in constant awe of the artwork and performances that this movie has to offer. It’s easily one of the best movies to watch (while high) on 4/20, no doubt about it.

The Big Lebowski
It’s a classic for a reason. To be fair, I’d say that this movie fully encapsulates every element of a successful film. It has an intriguingly strange story line, full of beloved characters, plot twists and turns, and with cinematography this good, it’s hard not to find yourself frozen in amazement with each passing scene. Now, I’m sure you have all seen this movie a million times over, but trust me, there’s something special about Lebowski during this marijuana holiday that just “hits different,” as the kids say. So, please, I urge you, even if you haven’t seen it in a couple years, or if you just watched it last week, it’s more than worth throwing on during this April holiday. It is, in my humble opinion, as close to “perfect” as you can get.
Now, of course, these are simply what we consider to be the best movies to watch (while high) on 4/20, but it is, by no means, meant to be seen as the end-all, be-all of high-guy movies. In fact, we encourage you all to see this list as a jumping-off point for your own personal journey through your streaming services, as you hunt for the right movie to enhance your high.
For you, one of the best movies to watch (while high) on 4/20 could be something from your childhood, or maybe it’s a film that just left the theaters. Whatever you wind up choosing, you can rest assured that, as long as you have good buds, and a solid internet connection, you’ll be able to watch any film you please, and hopefully, it ends up being one of the best movies to watch (while high) on 4/20.
