Kushie Caramels

The Kushie Caramel is aptly named; not only is it a good experience from a high perspective, but it’s also a great eating experience. I’m not accustomed to eating edibles very often, but I have to say, this item tempts me to try more of them. It’s not only very tasty, but it also delivers a potent, lingering high with multiple stages: contemplativeness, meditativeness, and finally, creativity. It packs a potent punch but makes for an eminently enjoyable experience.

Appearance 5/5
The candies themselves look quite appealing. They’re smooth and lustrous, and if you break them apart, you can see that there are two layers: a sugary exterior and a soft, gooey interior. They’re light brown and wrapped up neatly in plastic.

Aroma 5/5
It smells very rich, as well. As soon as you unwrap it, you’re met with a sweet, delicious aroma of toasted caramel. It tastes very much like it smells, potent and sugary. It would be a nice dessert treat, even without the powerful THC content.

Taste 5/5
The flavor is a rich, classic caramel with weedy notes, and it finishes with a lingering cannabinoid aftertaste. The flavor of cannabis comes through quite strongly, but not in such a way that it overwhelms the sweetness of the candy. It’s really quite balanced in my opinion, much more so than many edibles I’ve tried, where the weed is the only thing you taste. It might tempt you to eat the whole thing, but be careful, because at 50mg of THC per candy, this edible packs a wallop.

The texture also bears special mention, as it stood out to me as quite unique. The mouthfeel is delightful: smooth, sugary, and soft, but without the excessive chewiness that some caramels suffer from. It’s a delicate confection, not something that’s going to get stuck to your teeth. Even if you store it in a cool place, you’ll find the texture to be tender and yielding.

The high came on me about thirty minutes after I took it, and it settled from my head down to my stomach. It is a subtle, but abiding sense of wellbeing that quickly fills the body. Before long, it turns into a pervading sense of highness–very heady, very strong, and very pleasant. Within the space of a few minutes, you get this amazing ramp-up to a very calm, but intense high. It amplifies the senses, creating a state of heightened awareness.

This edible would definitely be good for any time you have to concentrate or be creative. It makes your mind feel wired, active, and limber. It allows all kinds of associations and connections to occur whenever you focus on something.

The experience is defined by the indica qualities of the high: focus, awareness, single-mindedness, and thoughtfulness. It slows the mind but also sharpens it in many ways. The body rush of the high is intense, then disabling, deep, and contemplative. At the peak, it gives a full-body sensation, and it’s hard to function. You wouldn’t be good for much more than listening to music.

After that feeling tails off, there is a strong sense of clarity and creativity. I got a surprising amount of work done right after the peak ended as if all of the creativity I experienced during the peak was organized and put to use. It is a journey with a constructive end.

The Kushie Caramel is, without a doubt, one of the best edibles I’ve had. Even though it gave me that “oops, I’m too high” feeling for a minute, after I laid down and started listening to some music, I was able to process the intensity of the high quite well. 

I strongly recommend this product to anybody that likes edibles or is curious about them. Depending on the person, you may not need to take the entire 50mg candy in order to get the full effect. Personally I have a strong tolerance, so I had to take 4/5ths of candy, but your mileage will definitely vary. This is an edible that delivers a strong and rewarding experience, and it’s totally worth your time and money.
