Mindy’s Freshly Picked Berries Gummies are 2mg each, and include notes of blueberries, strawberries, mulberries, and huckleberries. These gummies come in a pack of 20, for a total THC content of 40mg. They are vegetarian, non-GMO, use natural flavors, and are colored with fruit and vegetable juice.
Mindy’s Edibles are created by Chicago Chef, Mindy Segal, and produced by Cresco Labs.
Appearance 4/5
The gummies are round, about ½” in diameter with slanted, ribbed edges. The color is lovely. It is a translucent magenta, with purple hues that deepen in the shade. It is approximately the color of a blueberry mixed with raspberry, only brighter and airier. They are covered in granulated sugar.
These gummies were much less uniform than the other Mindy’s gummies I’ve purchased. Some of the gummies were misshapen as if they either were not molded properly or had melted.
Aroma 3/5
Mindy’s Freshly Picked Berry Gummies smell like blueberries. Or rather, they smell like the natural fruit snacks made from blueberry juice. There is little in the aroma that points to the tartness of strawberries or raspberries. Like blueberries, the aroma is slightly sweet.
There is something earthy and off-putting in the aroma that reminds me of the dry bitterness of a berry stem. Fortunately, the blueberry scent is so strong, that the unpleasant notes are only sometimes apparent.
Taste 2/5
At first, the flavor is pleasant. It tastes like strawberries and blueberries. It is slightly sweet and tastes like rich, non-acidic cooked fruit. But as I chewed, bitterness crept in. According to the package, the flavor includes mulberries or huckleberries from the Pacific Northwest. As a Midwesterner, I’ve hardly heard of these berries, much less tried them. The almost gamey flavor of these berries was very unpleasant to me, and the bitterness lingered in my mouth.
Effect 4/5
These gummies have a pleasant effect that sets in very quickly. When I ate one of these gummies, it took about three minutes for me to start feeling the effects, rather than the 20-60 minutes that most edibles require to kick in. The effects of these gummies are mostly physically relaxing, although they do provide a slight mental buzz.
Since these gummies only contain 2mg THC each, eating just one gummy provides relaxing effects that don’t really limit functionality. It took six gummies for me to get high.

I wasn’t crazy about the flavor of this product, but I have never had mulberries or huckleberries. People who are familiar with these flavors and enjoy them would like these gummies. I also recommend the Freshly Picked Berries flavor to people who enjoy unique and creative flavors.
Mindy’s edibles are the best gummies available in Chicago, and for people like me, who aren’t accustomed to the taste of mulberries, there are five other delicious flavors, like cherry and grapefruit, to choose from.
While I am a big fan of Mindy’s gummies, I didn’t enjoy the Freshly Picked Berries flavor. It seems that many of Mindy’s edibles attempt a flavor profile beyond the typical fruity gummies — one that also makes the flavor more “adult.”
For instance, the grapefruit gummies had gin botanicals in the flavor. I enjoy this about her gummies, but the mulberry and huckleberry flavors are too bitter to achieve the elegant, mature flavor profiles that her other gummies capture.

Sunnyside Lakeview is currently requiring recreational customers to order through an online system. After a few frustrating weeks for recreational customers, they have adjusted to a system that allows customers to add items to their cart most of the time throughout the day, and submit their orders only when the dispensary can handle the capacity. When customers are able to place their orders, the submission button turns to Sunnyside’s signature orange.
The night before my most recent trip, I added all the items to my cart. The next morning, the submission button became active right at 9 am. I submitted my order right away, and it went through. The submission button was active for another 15 minutes. Then, at 10 am, the submission button became active once again, but this time only for five minutes.
They texted to tell me that my order was ready to be picked up at 10:42, and I arrived a half-hour later. Until recently, they haven’t been fulfilling recreational orders until the afternoon. I ended up waiting for 30 minutes, which is the longest I’ve waited for a while. The security guard apologized to the man in front of me because he had been waiting in the waiting room for so long. They didn’t have all of the registers staffed, and it looked like there were about twice as many medical patients in the morning, as there are in the afternoon.
Once I got to the register, everything went quickly. This time, my order was not packed when I arrived, so the budtender pulled everything from the lockers. When I left, there was a long recreational line almost down the block.
