Pretty much throughout the course of history, food has been popular in societies. Rightfully so. I mean, we all need sustenance in order to keep on living. But the same could be said about air and water, but those necessary elements of life don’t even hold a candle to food, and it’s abundant popularity. When tasked with trying to figure out why cuisine has maintained its beloved status with the human race, I believe it all comes down to creativity.

With meals, one can get as intricate (or as simple) as they like. So long as it tastes good to them when it’s all said and done. Tasting something is far more enjoyable, entertaining, and thought-provoking than simply taking in a breath, or sipping a glass of water. It opens up nostalgic memories of one’s childhood years, or even mentally transports people back to a pleasant memory of celebration. Conversely, when things are a bit rough, and the weather isn’t being too kind, folks often find solace in comfort foods.
Honestly, food is awesome, and insanely versatile with its million different interpretations and ingredients.

Even though food has been at the forefront of people’s minds for eons, the social media era has taken everything to an extreme, seemingly overnight. People are incredibly thirsty for “likes” and user engagement, causing them to come up with all sorts of ways to stand out amongst the crowd of culinary-inspired photos and videos. Which is why we’ve seen an onslaught of combined foods as of late.
By “combined foods” I mean that these kitchen innovators mash-up two (or more) beloved dishes, in hopes of creating something truly legendary. While some skyrocket themselves to instant fame and stardom in the culinary world, the majority of these unique creations are hardly as tasty (or as cool) as they hope to be.
But, hey, you can’t help but applaud someone for trying.

And even though the world of combined foods is a relative “crap-shoot” of sorts, there is one dish that I can’t help but swoon over. That recipe, my friends, is Marijuana Sushi Pizza.
Yup. You read that right, but I’ll give you a couple seconds to let that fully sink in.
Marijuana Sushi Pizza. When you think about it, those are probably the three coolest words in the history of words! Even the title is satisfying to the senses, and that bodes very well for this one-of-a-kind meal.
But, first, you’ll need to wipe that drool away for the moment, because before we get into any shopping or cooking, we’ll need to get some cannabis-infused cooking oil. Now, if you want to pick some up from your local cannabis club, by all means, go for it. But, if you’re like me and want to make some of your own at home, here’s how you do it.
Kick things off by taking a cup’s worth of finely ground up cannabis into a saucepan. That saucepan shouldn’t exceed 240°. Then, pour in a cup’s worth of your preferred cooking oil. Stir the two contents together to the best of your ability.

After that’s completed, allow these two to simmer together for 3 hours. Once that time has elapsed, prepare a bottle for storage, by securing a cheesecloth over the top of it. Through that very same cheesecloth, gently pour out the cannabis-infused contents from the saucepan into the bottle. The cheesecloth ought to catch all of the chunky floral debris that would otherwise turn your oil incredibly bitter and off-putting.
And that’s it. You’ve successfully created a batch of cannabis-infused cooking oil. Well done. Now let’s get on with this recipe for Marijuana Sushi Pizza, shall we?
I know that’s a lot of ingredients for one measly recipe, but trust me, it’ll all be worth it once you taste it. So, now that you’ve got all of that in order, let’s start working on this Marijuana Sushi Pizza.

Instructions

  • Okay, first thing’s first, grab yourself a medium-sized saucepan. In it, you’ll want to blend together your sugar, salt, vinegar, rice, and water. After you’ve combined those ingredients, let them sit amongst each other for 10 minutes. At that point, you can crank up the heat to a med-high setting, and allow those contents to come to a boil.
  • When the mixture starts to boil, you can lower that heat source to a steady medium setting. After that quick temperature change, cover that saucepan, and give the rice almost 20 minutes to cook. You’ll know you’re done when the rice is good and tender. When you’re satisfied with the rice, remove them from the saucepan, and transfer them over to a baking sheet. Give it another 10 minutes (or so) to mellow out.
  • While that’s cooling down, you can grab a smaller bowl, and mix together the wasabi and mayonnaise.
  • When you feel like you’ve blended the two ingredients together adequately, you can simply set the bowl aside for the moment. But, don’t worry, it’ll most certainly come back into play later on in the recipe.
  • At this point in the process, you’ll want to get a larger skillet. Place that skillet on med-high heat, and toss in a couple tablespoons of your homemade cannabis-infused cooking oil Then, you can add rice to the warming skillet. Carefully, using dampened hands, press down on the rice in the skillet, until you form a rice patty of sorts. When you feel you’ve made a decent-sized patty, walk away, and let it cook until it’s a bit brown on the bottom. Which, in my experience, only takes 5 or so minutes. This will, essentially, be your “pizza dough.”
  • Then, with a brush, coat the top of the rice patty with your remaining cannabis-infused cooking oil. Flip that patty, and allow the other side to cook for another 5 minutes. And, if you have any infused cooking oil leftover, you can feel free to slather up this side, as well.
  • Once it’s done cooking, however, you can remove it from the skillet altogether, and let it chill out for 10 minutes.
  • When that cooling period has come to an end, it’s time to expertly spread that wasabi mayo atop the rice patty. But be sure to leave an inch worth of space open along the edges, as this will be your “crust.”
  • Now, you can strategically place your smoked salmon around the wasabi mayo. Atop that, you can place your cucumber slices. Over that, you can put your tuna, ending with some avocado slices down near the middle of your neatly crafted “pizza.”
  • For good measure, you can toss your jalapeno slices all over the culinary creation for optimal coverage. Once you feel you’ve achieved that goal, you can top things off by gently placing ginger slices near the middle of the avocado section.
  • But you’re not quite done, yet.
  • In a small bowl, quickly mix together the Stir Fry (or Soy Glaze) with your Ponzu Sauce. Then you can take that tasty concoction, and lightly drizzle it on top of your whole “pizza.” All that’s left now is a handful of sesame seeds sprinkled throughout, and then you’re good to go.
