High Supply by Cresco Labs offers high quality cannabis in quantities larger than an eighth. In addition to selling popcorn buds in 14 and 28 grams, they sell shake in 7 gram quantities.
Rather than selling a “high supply” of specific strain, Cresco markets these products as simply Sativa, Indica, and Hybrid. However, the dispensary label revealed the strain of the tub I purchased to be Island Sweet Skunk.
Popcorn buds are the small buds that grow at the bottom of a marijuana plant. While growers detest these small buds because they don’t optimize the harvest, there is little difference for the consumer between these buds and the other flower, other than size.
Appearance 4/5
The High Supply is packaged in a white plastic tub about 4” in diameter. It is covered in a thin cardboard label which has “Sativa Popcorn 14g” printed in Cresco’s signature sativa red.
The cannabis is bright green, and covered in long orange hairs that poke out, and wrap around the buds.
They have a nice dusting of trichomes on the outside, but the inside of the buds are covered in trichomes. The size of the buds range from slightly smaller than a pea, to about the size of a nickel. The buds have a medium density.
The only problem is the sharp stem that pokes up the center of almost all of the popcorn buds. However, in my opinion, this is a minor inconvenience for the discount price of popcorn buds.
Aroma 4/5
When I opened the tub of cannabis, a pungent, sour aroma filled my apartment. But given that a half ounce of almost any decent cannabis would stink up a room, I had to seperate about an eighth to get a better sense of how aromatic the strain, Island Sweet Skunk, actually is.
Even in the smaller quantity, this strain is fragrant and complex. There are notes of everything from lemon, to mint, to fresh cut grass. The aroma is tart, fresh, and brighter than most.
After smoking, the residual smell of this strain is very skunky. For that reason, I must deduct one point from the aroma rating.
Taste 5/5
The taste of Island Sweet Skunk is simple and hearty. While the aroma of this strain is powerful and sour, the taste is more delicate and very satisfying. It tastes strangely starchy — although that isn’t a bad thing.
The flavor reminds me of potatoes cooked with lemon. Something about the flavor of this strain brings to mind the taste (and crunch) of a honeycrisp apple, or butter lettuce with a light vinaigrette.
Effect 5/5
This strain made me feel happy in a way that made me oblivious to my surroundings. It made me happy in a way that made me want to dance. The effects of this strain are very joyful and uplifting. The high is not particularly cerebral, focused, or energized — just happy. And, after spending a month alone in my apartment, a half ounce of happiness is exactly what I need.
I feel that the uplifting effect of Island Sweet Skunk is very well-balanced, and representative of sativas as a category. This leads me to wonder: is High Supply a surplus of whatever Cresco had popcorn or shake of, or is Island Sweet Skunk one of Cresco’s “house” sativas. I guess I’ll have to buy it again to find out.
Product price: $166.32
This is a product for people who are willing to give up a little bit of choice for a significant discount on high quality cannabis. For customers who know they want a sativa, but don’t care which sativa, this product is a great option.
Those who primarily roll their cannabis should be aware that they might have to put the popcorn buds through the grider 2-3 times to avoid puncturing the rolling papers.
I also must recommend that anyone who lives in an apartment, and/or is worried about offending their neighbors with a strong cannabis odor, to avoid the strain, Island Sweet Skunk, because of its lingering skunk smell.
The dispensaries in Chicago have some of the best cannabis money can buy. They also have the most expensive cannabis money can buy. This product is just as good quality as the eighths in glass jars, with the strain name printed on a shiny label. In fact, a few days after I purchased this, they had an eighth of the same strain by Cresco on the menu for $66.54.

While the customer experience at Sunnyside Lakeview has greatly improved over the last few months, my trip last week was not without a few hiccups.
I’ve noticed that, from time to time, the website allows users to add items to their cart when the ordering window is closed, so I decided to check if the button was active about a half hour before ordering began, and I was in luck! This meant I could add everything to my cart online, instead of pretending like I just remembered to add something to my order when I got to the counter. I added my three items, some papers, filters, and the Verano vape battery to my cart, and waited until noon when I could submit my order.
After the clock struck noon, the submission button took about 30 seconds to become active. I submitted my order immediately, and on another device, I timed how long the ordering window was open. The button to submit the order was open for just under one minute.
They texted to let me know that my order would be ready at 12:32, and I arrived at the dispensary just before 1:00. I could see from down the block that there was a line in front of the building, but when I got there, I realized it was only about 10 people. The line moved relatively quickly.
This week, Sunnyside was admitting four customers in the waiting room, and six in the dispensary, at a time. All of the budtenders were wearing masks and gloves, and they put up clear shields between the budtender’s computer and the customers.
I walked out thinking, Wow, that was the best trip I’ve ever had to Sunnyside. It was easy, relatively quick. Good selection, good service. Then, when I got home and unpacked the bright orange bag, I realized that they forgot to include the vape battery. This meant I had to use the two carts I got with my old, ineffective battery. This was disappointing, to say the least, and put an unfortunate damper on my trip.
