Ozone is a cannabis brand that works with the cultivator Ascend in Illinois to grow its heritage and exotic strains. No information could be found on McGloven, one of their new, exotic strains. I reached out to the company about this strain, and they did not get back to me. McGloven is a hybrid strain, and my 0.75g pre-roll had a cannabinoid percentage of 29.25%.

Appearance 4/5
This 0.75g pre-roll was packaged in a white tube about 4” long with a rectangular base. The pre-roll itself was about an inch shorter than the packaging. The white rectangular tube was lined with large pieces of shake that seemingly came out of nowhere, as they were not on the filter, and the tip was pushed into the top of the joint.

The cannabis was ground coarse. and there was little to no presence of trichomes, or kief. It was a very vibrant green, and there were several small stems.

Aroma 2/5
This joint smells as if it has already been burned--so much so that my partner complained that I was keeping a half-smoked joint in the house. I was not. That is just how the product smells.

Getting over the initial unpleasantness, the aroma is slightly soapy and smells almost like buttermilk. There is a slight, sweet creaminess, and a freshness that hints at fresh-cut grass. However, all of this is overpowered by the dry stink of a half-smoked joint, even before I had opened it.

Taste 4/5
McGloven had a mild, toasty taste.

Effect 2/5
The effects of this strain were overall strong and uplifting—but McGloven’s effects had a major downside. I experienced waves of paranoia every time I smoked this product. While I didn’t experience paranoia for the duration of the high, I experienced enough paranoia for it to significantly decrease my opinion of the strain. I got paranoid when I was smoking outside on my property, and a cop drove past me twice, even though I knew I was legally smoking my legally purchased cannabis.

When I wasn’t feeling paranoid, this strain was quite pleasant. At 29.55% THC, this product is definitely potent, and I felt talkative and excited. This strain is a hybrid, but going off of effects, I would say it leans towards the Sativa side.

Product price:  $21.62 for 0.75g

I recommend that people who purchase this product, store it in an airtight glass container because of the potent smell because the plastic tube packaging does little to mask the smell.

I also recommend that those who are prone to paranoia choose a different strain.

While I appreciate that Ozone is experimenting with different strains, I wish they would at least let the public know which strains they were derived from in order to help them make more informed decisions.

Overall, this product was of adequate quality, but for less than a gram, and for more than $20, one would expect better than adequate.

I went to Sunnyside after it had been closed for almost a week. Actually, I went the day after it re-opened. The day it re-opened, I was unable to place an order because the website kept crashing. Clearly a lot of people had the same idea as I did. The day after it re-opened, the website crashed in the morning, but by 11am, I was able to place my order.

Since I placed an order on the first day they closed before I realized they were not open, I was unable to place an order on my account, so I created a new account to place my order. Luckily, this new account synced up with my customer loyalty points.

When I got to the dispensary, I checked in at the Sunnyside building opposite the main location on Clark. The windows of both buildings were covered in Sunnyside orange plastic. I checked in with my ID, and was instructed to wait on the couches. A few minutes later, myself and two others were walked across the street by an employee to stand in line outside the dispensary. The line for this moved quickly, and I was shortly waiting in line inside the dispensary.

The rest of the trip was efficient, although I learned when I got to the counter, that recreational customers were no longer permitted to change their order in the store. This was a minor disappointment because I had planned to add one more pre-roll to my order. Otherwise, Sunnyside has grown to be remarkably efficient.
