The Sour Cherry Canna-sours from Southern-Illinois based cannabis company, IESO, contain five 5mg THC gummies. Canna-sours come in several flavors and shapes, including watermelon and neon smileys.

IESO has a team of culinary professionals working to provide Illinoians with creative, easy to consume edibles. These are made with the freshest ingredients to merge the healing properties of cannabis with delicious food.

Appearance 3/5
The sour cherry Canna-sours are small discs, somewhere between bright red and hot pink, depending on where the light is hitting them. They are about ¾” in diameter, and about ¼” tall. They are covered in sour sugar crystals.

They are packaged in a small black bag which requires scissors to open. This keeps them from being an “on-the-go” product.

Somewhere before they got into my possession, these gummies melted, which caused the discs to be slightly deformed.

Aroma 3/5
These candies have the same distinctive artificial cherry aroma best known in cough drops. The aroma is quite sweet, but there isn’t any sourness in the smell. There is a faint hint of cannabis distillate at the back of the nose. The cannabis aroma is only noticeable when looking for it. There is also a strange, unplaceable note to the aroma that reminds me of, maybe, soy sauce or vinegar.

Taste 2/5
For candy, these Sour Cherry Gummies aren’t very sweet--or very sour. I dissolved the sour coating in my mouth like the instructions directed, which tasted slightly sour. The gummy underneath has the flavor of a cherry cough drop, but the taste is very mild. It’s almost like they didn’t add the full amount of flavoring. After the sugar coating is dissolved, these gummies are hardly sweet. There is a slight bitterness from the cannabis oil, but it is only noticeable when I thought about it.

Effect 3/5
After eating one of these gummies (5mg THC), I felt physically relaxed, but tired and unfocused. The best effect was the softness in my muscles, as well as a sense of emotional calmness. After two gummies, I started feeling stoned and physically heavy. I felt happy, but drowsy. After three, I felt stoned and disoriented. The packaging does not indicate if this is indica, sativa, or hybrid, but the more gummies I ate, the more relaxed, sedated, and tired I felt.

Product price: $9.98 for 25mg THC

I recommend the Sour Cherry Gummies to customers who are looking to purchase a small amount of edibles, since these only come with five 5mg gummies. I also recommend these to people who are looking for an inexpensive product that is decent. At $9.98, they are very affordable for 25mg THC.

For what the consumer gets, this is a pretty good deal. These are decent tasting, effective, gelatin-free gummies that come in a pack of five, rather than twenty. Honestly, I’m not sure I would want twenty of these gummies, but I would purchase another five-pack of Canna-sours in the future.

I went to check out the new Sunnyside River North location about a half hour after they opened on a Saturday, and they were already busy. In fact, almost every person I saw walking down the streets of River North--which, let's be honest, wasn’t that many--was carrying a bright yellow-orange Sunnyside shopping bag.

Like the Lakeview location, Sunnyside River North has two buildings that customers need to go to when picking up online orders. When I got to the first location, clearly marked as Sunnyside with a big sign, I checked in with the host. He told me it would be about 10 minutes, and I could wait in the spacious ex-restaurant, or outside, until I got the text to check back in. He quoted the girl in front of me “ 5 minutes.”

By the time I was getting my ticket 10 minutes later, the host was quoting customers 25 minutes.

Ten minutes after I checked in, I got a text instructing me to check back in at the host stand. I lined up, and he printed me a ticket to give to the employees at the dispensary. I walked the block and a half over to the other location, and showed my confirmation text (and my ID) to the security guard.

Inside the dispensary, there is just one long counter, with ropes separating the queue. It isn’t painted bright orange, and there isn’t informative material all over the walls. Compared to the other location, it is pretty austere. Compared to the other Chicago location, which has been functioning as a medical dispensary for years, this location didn’t run nearly as smoothly.

They didn’t make me feel as welcome, and the dispensary felt almost like a pop-up. Still, I got everything I came for, and they have a more extensive menu for recreational customers here than any other place in town, including Sunnyside Lakeview.
