The product I purchased was Sweet ReLeaf’s Agave Lime lozenges. These edibles come in a five-pack, and each piece contains 20 mg of THC. There’s a silica gel pack inside, too, which helps prevent moisture buildup. The specific strain is unspecified.

Appearance 5/5
These lozenges come individually wrapped inside of a sealed package. The package looks really good in my opinion — it sports a bright green design that nicely complements the lime flavors of the product. It stood out to me when ordering online.

After pinching on both sides to undo the childproof safety seal, I found the five pieces inside. The hexagon-shaped pieces came individually twist-wrapped, and were bigger than I expected. The lozenges have a rich reddish-brown color, and a sort of rustic, homemade appearance. No artificial colors here, and it shows. I really liked their look overall.

Aroma 5/5
The pouch itself doesn’t really have a smell when opened, so I took out a lozenge and unwrapped it. I took a big whiff and was met with a nostalgic scent. The lozenge reminded me of those suckers with the safety loop handles I would get as a kid from the bank, or at a doctor’s office. They were sweet, but you can tell the sweetness came from agave and organic sugar, and not corn syrup. There’s a hint of lime there, too, that adds a bit of brightness to the aroma.

Taste 4/5
These lozenges taste much like they smell, so no surprises here! The sweetness hits right away, and it has a syrupy, honey-like quality that I really like. I guess these are lozenges after all, so that probably helps coat your throat when sick!

The lime flavor is also present, but it’s not overpowering. It blends in well with the agave, but the result doesn’t taste sour, nor does it taste much like a margarita, which I kind of hoped for. It really just tastes like an old-fashioned lime flavored candy you might get from an old-school candy shop. The cannabis flavor wasn’t too prominent, either. In fact, if you didn’t know what these lozenges were, you probably couldn’t tell there was any THC in them…at least not right away!

One thing that stood out to me was how long these lozenges last in your mouth. Unless you’re biting into them, expect a good 7-10 minutes of sucking on one of these before they melt away. If you’re looking to get high ASAP maybe this is a problem, but I didn’t mind.

Effect 5/5
I was pretty excited to try these lozenges, as they’re a higher dose than I normally consume. As I waited for my 20 mg piece to dissolve, I was a bit nervous that the dose would prove too much for me. I started to feel it about 30 minutes in, when I realized I started to think “in my head” a bit more than normal. After an hour had passed, I could tell I was definitely high, and things peaked between an hour-and-a-half to two hours in.

The high, even at its peak, was really great. I had gone on a long walk with my wife, during which I felt in calm control of my body and mind. Was I goofier than normal? Yes, but I also felt creatively stimulated and energetic. It’s the kind of high that’s perfect for long, thoughtful conversations, which we had. It was never overwhelming, nor did it give me a negative sense of paranoia like some sativas can. This was an energetic, somewhat euphoric, but also relaxing, reassuring high.

I’d say that Sweet ReLeaf Agave Lime Lozenges are great for those looking to just chill out and relax for a bit, or for those who need a bit of creative stimuli to work on personal projects, or make work more fun. The syrupy consistency when they melt is probably also good for sore throats!

For medical patients, the 20 mg dose is definitely on the higher end compared to most edibles, so it should provide some relief. Just be sure you can handle that dosage first! These would also be pretty tough to cleanly cut in half, so if you’re looking for a smaller dose from these, consider buying something else.

Sweet ReLeaf Agave Lime Lozenges taste great, are thoughtfully handcrafted, and provide an exceptional high. Definitely seek them out if you’re looking for an edible you can feel good about eating. I can look back fondly on the highs I got from these as fun, positive, and relatively upbeat, compared to other more sedative options.

I purchased the product being reviewed at Nature’s Care, a medical and recreational cannabis dispensary located in Rolling Meadows. Nature’s Care is tucked away in an industrial part of town, just off Rohlwing Road. It’s easy to get to by taking Route 53, which is accessible from I-90.

Nature’s Care has remained open during Illinois’ Shelter in Place orders because it was designated an essential business by the governor. I’m really glad they were, too, as they serve a lot of medical patients in the area, as well as recreational users looking to get some relief during this difficult time.

The management and staff at the dispensary have taken their role seriously, as well. They’ve enacted a number of measures for customer safety, including starting curbside pickup service for medical patients, kindly enforcing social distancing in their store lines, and maintaining a clean and sanitary sales floor.

During my most recent trip there, I opted to enter the store, as I wanted to see what it was like inside after making a couple of curbside pickups recently. Medical patients have their own shorter line to wait in, but this time there were no other patients, so I walked right in.

Upon entering, I was asked to wash my hands in the restroom before entering the sales floor, which I did. Inside, they’ve added a glass guard spanning the entire length of the main sales counter, to help prevent the spread of germs. Speaking with the sales staff, I didn’t feel rushed or anything — the service has remained friendly. I paid for (and picked up) my order, and was on my way!
