UK Cheese is believed to be a phenotype of Skunk #1 that has been cultivated in the United Kingdom since the early ’90s. It is named after its distinctive funky aroma. This gram of UK Cheese from The Botanist has a THC percentage of 20.43%.

The Illinois grower In Grown Farms (IGF) partnered with The Botanist to bring their premium cannabis to the midwest. The Botanist operates vertically integrated dispensaries across several states, including Florida, New York, and California.

Appearance 5/5
This gram of UK Cheese came with six medium-sized nugs. They looked fluffy and loosely fell off the stem. The most notable thing about this product was the deep green of the buds. The flower was very dark green, although some areas appeared lighter because they were covered in kief. Each bud was sparsely covered with very thin orange hairs.

The packaging, I must note, is exquisite. It came in a cubic box that looks like it would contain expensive organic moisturizer. Inside was a pale green ceramic jar with faux wood grain on the lid.

Aroma 4/5
True to its name, UK cheese has a strange sour cheesy aroma that is overpowering. While it doesn’t remind me of any stinky cheese, in particular, it smells moldy–but in a good way. There are also skunky notes and a sharp sweetness that comes in at the end.

While this strain has a potent aroma when it is held up to my nose, I can’t smell the flower from an open jar a few feet away.

Taste 4/5
At first, the taste of the UK Cheese is sweet and creamy. The flavor is smooth, lacking the sour funk of the aroma. It is slightly crisp and nutty in a way that reminds me of the skin of hazelnuts. At the end of the inhale, there is a surprising touch of spiciness that hints at oregano and cumin. UK Cheese has a unique and enjoyable combination of flavors. It isn’t as flavorful as some other strains, and it was a little sweet for my taste.

Effect 4/5
UK Cheese made me feel blissful. At 20% THC, this is a moderately potent strain, but it has effects that go beyond THC content. It changed my mood and got me out of my head more than most other strains. On the downside, UK Cheese made me feel slightly numb, both physically and emotionally.

I enjoyed this strain just as much for the effects it provided as the side effects it didn’t. While most cannabis makes me feel less talkative and decreases my vocabulary, UK Cheese made me feel sociable and left my mind running at its usual speed.

Product price: $32 for 1g

I recommend this product to people who are new to cannabis, especially those who are hesitant about smoking flowers. The strain is very beginner-friendly due to its moderate THC levels, its uplifting hybrid effects, and its sweet flavor. This product could also make a nice gift because of its up-scale appearance.

This gram of flower is great, customers aren’t just buying the quality of the flower from IGF; they are also buying the elegant branding and classy packaging from The Botanist. In contrast with Cresco Lab’s no-frills cannabis, this product has more frills than a 19th century nightgown. Aspects of this are very impressive, but this turns what I would consider an every-day strain into a niche item, and I would have enjoyed this strain just as much out of a black plastic container.

This was my first trip to the original MOCA location in Logan Square. Like most dispensaries, they require recreational customers to place their orders online. Users must make an account, but they can view the menu without one. After I created an account, I was able to view a new page where I could add items to my cart. I placed my order at 7 pm, after they closed, for pick-up the next day. I was able to choose a specific time slot. I received an email right away that listed the items in my order, the price, and the total. Unlike some Chicago dispensaries, MOCA includes tax in the prices.

They have two different entrances, one for medical patients, and another for recreational customers. Medical patients enter at 2847 W Fullerton Ave., and recreational customers enter at 2369 N Milwaukee Ave.

I arrived 15 minutes before my scheduled pick-up time, and the security guard told me to come back five minutes before my pick-up time. When I came back, I walked into the white gated area in front of the dispensary. One security guard scanned by ID, and the other scanned me with a metal detector and looked in my bag. I walked into a huge room with a table at the back and followed the arrows to the check-in desk. The gentleman there took my ID and pulled up my order. He also gave me an informational packet on becoming a medical patient in Illinois and informed me that medical patients in Illinois are treated as medical patients when visiting participating states like Michigan.

After I checked in, I went down a long hallway with large paintings and line drawings of buds along the walls. I gave my ID to a guard at the end of the hallway and was let into the dispensary. When orders are ready, the budtender calls out the customer’s name, and the customer goes up to the counter to check out and pick up their order. I only waited for about three minutes. the budtender quickly went over the items in my order and sent me off with a brown paper lunch bag containing my order.
