Gorilla Glue #4–sometimes known as Gorilla Glue, Original Glue, or GG4–is the most popular variety of the Gorilla Glue. It comes from Chem’s Sister and Sour Dubble. This indica strain is famous for leaving users “glued” to the couch, even with its moderate THC percentage at 23.3%. This 1g pre-roll was grown by Cresco Labs, the grower vertically integrated with Sunnyside Dispensaries.
Appearance 5/5
This 1g pre-roll from Cresco Labs was substantially shorter than the last one I tried back in March. It was also packaged in a smaller plastic tube. While I remember the other pre-roll being mushy, this one was packed firmly with finely ground cannabis. The light green flower was pulverized into a fluffy dust. There wasn’t a lot of variation in color. The pre-roll was rolled in thin brown paper. There was a white paper filter with “Cresco” printed on it in blue.
Aroma 3/5
The aroma of this pre-roll was rich and earthy. It smelled like grass, wet with morning dew. There were subtle notes of gasoline and citrus, particularly orange and lemon. It might have been putrid if it didn’t smell dried out. It wasn’t the most fragrant cannabis, and I could not smell the pre-roll when it was in my pocket. While the aroma was pleasant enough, there was nothing unique about it. When it burned, it reminded me of the smell of burning leaves.
Taste 3/5
Gorilla Glue #4 has a rich, earthy, slightly acidic taste. There were deep notes of dark roast coffee and unsweetened cocoa. This deep flavor had notes of tobacco and pine, as well. There wasn’t any sweetness or brightness in the flavor. Even as someone who drinks black coffee and enjoys rich flavors, I didn’t find anything intriguing about the taste.
The flavor of this pre-roll isn’t unique, and it isn’t particularly emphasized well by the brown paper, but the taste is decent, and the cannabis is fresh.
Effect 5/5
While the typical description of this strain as “glued to the couch” doesn’t really appeal to me, I tried the GG4 pre-roll anyway and was very impressed. I really enjoyed the strong mental relaxation that this strain provided. I felt drowsy and euphoric at the same time. While I did feel physically relaxed, I didn’t feel glued to the couch at all, and I didn’t find this strain too intense for daytime use.
Product price: $20.79 for 1g
While Cresco used to sell longer pre-rolls with more coarsely ground cannabis that didn’t burn well, this new style of pre-roll is more condensed and burns evenly. I recommend that users smoke it as is, rather than unrolling the ground cannabis. The cannabis is ground pretty fine, and I would recommend that users use a filter if re-rolling it, or smoking it in a bowl.
I wasn’t impressed by the taste or aroma of Gorilla Glue #4, but the effects were relaxing, numbing, and overall very pleasant. This product didn’t blow me away, but it met my expectations for a 1g pre-roll in this price range. This is just as Cresco Labs advertises. This is no-frills, everyday cannabis bred to have optimal effects.

Even on a Saturday morning, my trip to the dispensary was quicker than usual. It seems that they have figured out a flow when it comes to fulfilling recreational orders. Now, they have an online ordering platform and a waiting room/consultation center, in addition to the main dispensary. They had plans to move Sunnyside to a location in Wrigleyville before the pandemic hit. This was supposed to have a room where customers could smoke, which is almost unimaginable now. While there is a painted building with a Sunnyside logo in Wrigley, the dispensary has no plans of moving in the immediate future. Right now, they have a highly efficient ordering system designed to fulfill the most amount of recreational orders possible, in addition to fulfilling all of their medical customers’ needs.
When I got the text confirming that my order had been received and was ready to pick up (this is all in one text now), I headed over to the building across the street from the dispensary to check in. I showed my ID to the security guard at the door, and showed my confirmation text to the employee at the front desk. He told me to talk to the employee at the back of the room.
In this building, there were only two people other than the employees who helped me. There was one employee sitting across a table from a customer with a sneeze guard between them. In the dispensary, I moved straight from the waiting room to the main room, as soon as they scanned by ID. The budtender quickly went over my order and processed by debit card payment, handing me a bright orange bag stapled shut.
