PTS Pomegranate Acai Tonic
PTS, a majority woman-owned business, has a wide ranging product line that includes the unique tonics, some of which feature only THC and others which have a 1:1 ratio of THC and CBD. PTS outlines what makes their tonics unique. The drinks use a high-tech technology called liposomal encapsulation that is said to deliver the cannabinoids to receptors much better than edibles like gummies or chocolates. The Pomegranate Acai flavor is infused with a balanced hybrid, 100mg THC.

PTS tonics come in a slim plastic bottle, and they’re color coded to match the individual flavors. This specific product has purple labeling, and all lab information, as well as a helpful dosage chart, is on the back of the bottle. The packaging is simple, minimalistic and overall gives the tonic a sterile, medicinal look. The drink itself is a cloudy yellow color, which kind of surprised me since the flavor is pomegranate acai.

I was a little surprised when I popped off the lid and got a feel for the scent of this product. I could smell citrus, kind of like a lemonade smell that didn’t mask the scent of the cannabis in the mix. I definitely got the cannabis funk from this product and not much else. The taste of PTS tonics is generally a little interesting, so I was curious about how this was going to taste.

I have to be blunt here – this is, without a doubt, the worst tasting edible that I’ve had. The only thing I could compare this to would be the taste of mixing lemonade with dirt. It was slightly sweet, and I guess I got a little bit of the fruity pomegranate flavor from this? I’ve had other PTS tonics and they’ve tasted fine. If I’m going to purchase an edible, I want it to taste good, or even decent, and this was horrible.

The helpful dosage marks on the side of the bottle make it easy to separate the dosage into 25mg THC increments. I used the marks to measure out 50mg worth. It took about an hour for this to kick in, and I felt my mood gradually improve, and I was able to enjoy my night and get in some good chill time before bed. It’s a combination body and mind high that’s uplifting without any negative couch-lock or paranoia. Effects lasted around three to four hours, and I was able to get a great night of sleep as I went to bed as this began to wear off.

 

I would probably not recommend PTS Pomegranate Acai Tonic. I would, however, recommend other flavors in the PTS Tonic line. There are a few other flavors that taste just fine, and are very similar in effect to this product. It seems that across the board for PTS the tonics are potent and great for a chill night in so I’d recommend them for that purpose.

While this is not my favorite product by PTS, it’s clear that they put potency first in their tonic product line. I’ll be checking back with NuEra for more products by PTS, as well as the other big name players in the Illinois growing and processing scene.

I appreciate the fact that NuEra takes great pains to prioritize med customers. After all, the dispensary has been around prior to rec legalization and they have a solid base of med customers. Medical patients have their own special access to the store, eliminating the need to wait in lines outside during some of the busier times. In addition, the first hour of each day is reserved for Medical patients only. While pre-ordering is only required for rec users, med users are recommended to do the same to limit time in the store.
