Revolution Sativa Hot Cocoa 70mg

Revolution is one of the top cannabis producers in the state of Illinois. They offer a full range of products under various brands, including flower from Revolution Cannabis, and infused syrups under the Spring Lake banner. The Sativa Hot Cocoa contains 70mg of THC, as well as a little over 10mg of CBD to mitigate the product’s uplifting effects.

I was a little disappointed that there were no dosing instructions anywhere on the package. This made things a little bit of a guess, as far as dosing goes, but I was able to get a decent measure of the product, and take out enough to match my desired dosage.

With a powder like this, plus infused marshmallows, it definitely isn’t an exact science, though. The powder is a rich brown color, and there are a few large marshmallows in the mix. It looks like an average hot cocoa mix.

When I opened the package, I was struck by the fact that the hot cocoa mix smelled just as any regular mix would. It was a nice sweet smell, and it made me pretty excited to mix up a cup, and have a taste. I could detect no funky scent of cannabis at all, only the sweet smell of chocolate.

Taste 2/5
This product had such a pleasant smell, I had very high hopes that the flavor would be just as good. As I took a sip, I first got the taste of sweet milk chocolate, and it tasted like regular hot chocolate. As I swallowed a few sips, though, I got a pretty extreme cannabis taste. When I chewed the marshmallows, the taste was even more pronounced. It made this product somewhat unpleasant to drink.

I hadn’t tried a cannabis-enhanced powdered drink mix before, so I was interested to see how this product would affect me. There was exactly 1/3 cup of mixture in the pouch, so I attempted to measure out 1/3 of that amount, which would provide a dose of around 24mg of THC.

I drank the hot cocoa, and waited about two hours before I felt anything. The only feelings this product gave me were incredibly dry, heavy eyes. I thought maybe it was a dosage issue, so the next day, I made another cup with the rest of the mix, roughly 46mg of THC. I still felt the same dry eyes, but no high to speak of at all.

I would probably not recommend this product. While there aren’t too many edibles of the powdered drink variety on the market, there are some great chocolates and candies that provide an actual high. I was really disappointed with the lack of effect from this product – I don’t have an exceptionally high tolerance, and still, I really can’t say I felt much of anything. The value for the money just isn’t here.

While my experience with the product wasn’t the best, my experience at NuMed was excellent, as usual. Part of the fun of trying new products is that the results can sometimes be a surprise. I’ll definitely be returning to NuMed the next time I’m feeling adventurous, and want to try a new, delicious edible.

NuMed continues to provide quality medicinal cannabis to both medical and rec-use customers, alike. Their selection has expanded slightly in recent weeks, with eighths of flower becoming available for rec users. This was a surprise, as the budtenders didn’t expect flower to arrive until late summer.

This visit, like others recently, was a great experience. Due to the implementation of an online pre-order system, NuMed has significantly streamlined the purchasing process. I appreciate that they are taking steps to reduce the amount of time customers spend in the store.
