Berry Pie, also known as Blueberry Pie, is a 50/50 hybrid that descends from two iconic strains, Girl Scout Cookies and Blue Dream. This pre-roll contains 1g of premium flower which has 31.8% THC. It is bred by Cookies, a California-based cannabis company founded by rapper and entrepreneur Berner, who helped popularize the Girl Scout Cookies strain.

Appearance 5/5
This pre-roll is about 4” long, including a 1” bright blue filter with the Cookie’s logo on it. It is packaged within a plastic tube in the same color.

The ground Berry Pie cannabis is mostly deep green and covered in powdery trichomes. There are some purple pieces in the ground flower, ranging from a muted, medium purple to a deep violet. There are also many little brown specks. This flower must have been covered in trichomes because the ground cannabis was very powdery. Even though the flower had a medium grind, it left a heavy dusting of specks and powder.

Aroma 5/5
The loose cannabis from the pre-roll smells like a store that sells artisanal soaps and perfumes. It smells like citrus and flowers. The citrus notes include orange, lemon, and grapefruit. The floral notes are bright and fresh, including hints of lilac and roses. It also has a sweet, salty aroma like a beach, as well as mild skunky notes. This strain has an extremely pleasant aroma. In describing it, I felt like I was describing different fragrances.

Taste 5/5
While the flavor of the Berry Pie strain isn’t very sweet at first, I enjoyed the flavor very much. It has a harsh Christmas-y flavor, with a mild tartness at the front of the tongue. The taste is rich and complex. I tasted notes of oak, pine, and unsweetened bakers chocolate. But at the end of the hit, on the exhale, there is a sweet, tart berry flavor that lingers in the mouth. While the taste was completely unexpected, given the fresh citrus aroma, it was very pleasant.

Effect 4/5
The Berry Pie Pre-roll made me feel happy and relaxed. It gave me a strong, “stoney” feeling, making me feel slowed down and dazed. At 31.8% THC, this strain is very potent. This strain made it feel like time passed quickly, and the high was strong, but it only lasted about an hour and a half, leaving me drowsy for the rest of the afternoon.

I am a big fan of the strain Blue Dream, and I felt that the effects of that delicate, yet potent sativa were overpowered by Girl Scout Cookies.

Product price: $24.95

This is a 1 gram pre-roll that tastes great and has a very pleasant aroma. I recommend this pre-roll for fans of the Girl Scout Cookies strain, who are looking to try something slightly different.

Since the ground cannabis in this pre-roll is so powdery, I recommend this pre-roll for people who are looking for something they can smoke as is, rather than partially unrolling it.

Berry Pie, aka Blueberry Pie, should not be confused with Blackberry Pie, which is a different evenly balanced hybrid with no shared heritage. I referred to this strain as Berry Pie because that is how the brand Cookies markets this strain. On the internet, I saw Girl Scout Cookies x Blue Dream more frequently referred to as Blueberry Pie.

Sunnyside is one of the best dispensaries for recreational customers in Illinois because they have a wide selection of products. Everything they currently have in stock is listed on a live menu on their site. While it might look like they have fewer options on the menu than they did in April, it is because they are taking recreational orders throughout the day, so items like flower and pre-rolls sell out rapidly.

Rather than opening the online ordering window once in the morning, Sunnyside has started allowing customers to order every hour on the hour starting at 10am. Most days, at some point throughout the day, they have flower and pre-rolls available, but they tend to sell out within a few hours. This means that recreational customers have a smaller selection of products everyday, but the new structure allows the dispensary to admit more customers throughout the day, while maintaining social distancing. Rather than encouraging customers to stock up as they were in April, they are structuring a dispensary that allows recreational customers to conveniently pick up their online orders.

Beyond expanding the hours, Sunnyside has done a lot to serve more recreational customers over the last two months. They have opened up a consultation space for recreational customers over 55 with health conditions across the street from the Lakeview location. This will be open to everyone as soon as it is safe to do so. They also announced a second Chicago location in River North at 436 N Clark Street. This location is going to be the city’s first, and state’s second, recreational-only cannabis dispensary. The other is RISE in Joliet.
