The product I purchased during this trip was a syringe of Rick Simpson Oil (RSO) produced by Remedi. The oil comes in a clear syringe, and is meant to be taken as a daily medical supplement. There are many testimonies online to its medical benefits, but unfortunately, no clinical testing has been completed as of this time.
Appearance 3/5
After bringing home the Remedi RSO from Nature’s Care, I opened up the white sleeve packaging, sealed with a childproof pouch, that must be pulled apart from both sides after digging in with your nail a bit.
What I found inside was a bit intimidating. I’ve never used Rick Simpson Oil before, and really didn’t know much about it. Inside the package was a skinny syringe, which contained 500mg of a dark brown, almost black cannabis oil.
It’s capped off with a rubber stopper, and due to the lack of instructions, I didn’t know if I should try to squeeze the oil right through, or if I needed to puncture it myself to let the oil out.
After failing both of those methods, I realized the cap unscrews! With the cap off, I was able to slowly squeeze out the recommended dose of oil the size of a grain of rice. This oil is, to put it best: THICC. The consistency is thicker than peanut butter — it’s more like a glue, and sticks to everything it touches, so be careful when dosing!
Aroma 3/5
The RSO is produced without any sort of fragrant additions, so what you smell is pure cannabis oil, along with whatever other ingredients they used to produce this. That’s not to say this RSO smells bad, it’s just not particularly pleasant, and the nice cannabis notes are sort of muted by the processed taste.
Taste 2/5
This is where I have to be brutally honest and say, if you base your product choices heavily on taste, you should look elsewhere. Straight RSO has a really strong flavor that you can’t really avoid, even if you quickly try to swallow it down.
Again, to clarify, it’s not that I didn’t like the taste because it missed the mark of trying to taste good, it’s that the oil has a strong, medicinal, almost pharmaceutical taste. If this is a big problem for you, but you still want to try RSO, I know it’s a popular option to use in creating your own edibles, especially gummies. I didn’t feel comfortable making any concoctions with it, but I imagine more experienced chefs can do a lot with this!
Effect 5/5
The first time I tried Rick Simpson Oil, I thought I was taking the correct recommended dose when I squeezed out some oil that was about the size of a grain of rice. Well, maybe my idea of a grain of rice is way off, because this led to one of the strongest highs I’ve ever felt.
Within about an hour, I could feel the ascension beginning, and it didn’t level off until a few hours later, at which point, holding a typical conversation was a great struggle.
During the entire high, I felt extremely relaxed and comfortable. And, even though it was a long trip, it was a pleasant one, for sure. The high lasted extremely long, up until about 1 PM the next day — and I had taken the dose at 5 PM the day before!
I’ve had about four more experiences with the RSO since then, and they’ve all produced a similar high, though I’ve figured out the dose that’s better suited for me, so it doesn’t last so long. You’ll definitely want to find your sweet spot first, and I’d recommend starting slow.
I should also note that there is a recommended procedure to follow when taking RSO, which was created by Rick Simpson, himself. Without going into too much detail, this calls for taking 60 mg of RSO over the course of 90 days, with the user taking a dose three times each day.
RSO can also be applied topically, which is what Rick Simpson did when he saw the effect it had on his skin cancer. I took the dose orally, and did not follow the regimen, but if you are interested, I highly encourage searching RSO regimen online.
Product price: $30
I’d recommend Remedi Rick Simpson Oil to medical cannabis patients looking for a strong dosage, or who want to try Rick Simpson’s set regiment for an ailment. This product is also a good option for diabetics, or for those avoiding sugar, which is usually a part of most cannabis edibles. RSO is also good for recreational use, due to its high potency, but don’t expect a great tasting product.
My experience with Remedi RSO was a very unique one. The taste and consistency was way out of the ordinary for me, and the high was incredibly potent. I think I would try it again sometime, especially now that I know more about how to use it.
I really wish Remedi would consider printing a guide to the product, either on the packaging, or inside the sleeve. It would be really helpful for first-timers, like myself.

Nature’s Care, a medical and recreational dispensary in Rolling Meadows, IL, has always provided customers with a clean shopping experience, and a welcoming atmosphere. During the COVID-19 outbreak, they’ve remained open, being designated as an essential business by Illinois’ governor, and throughout this time, they’ve really proven themselves to be dedicated to patient safety.
Throughout my handful of visits during our shelter-in-place orders, I’ve witnessed Nature’s Care staff cleaning surfaces throughout the store. I’ve also seen security personnel stationed outside, kindly reminding customers to maintain social distance while waiting in line. The customers, for their part, are doing a good job of maintaining it themselves, but we all need a reminder sometimes!
During my most recent visits, I’ve made use of the curbside pickup program Nature’s Care is offering exclusively to its medical patients. When I pull up to the storefront, I am met by a security officer. I tell him I’m there for the curbside, and he lets me through to the back parking lot.
Since my purchase was already pre-ordered through their online sales platform, all I have to do is park and wait. A staffer comes out, takes my medical card, and confirms my order.
A few minutes later, they return to my car with the product, and a mobile credit card reader. All I need to do is roll down my window, swipe my card, sign the receipt, and drive off with my goods. It’s all contact-free, and is a much appreciated way to order and receive products during this challenging time.
